Top 10 & Tiny Tabs

January 12th, 2013 | By Kristin in Mini Albums & Journals, Tiny Tabs | 1 Comment »

Hi Everyone! Kristin here today to share the first half of my Top 10: Chicago mini book with you.

The base of this mini-book is the Tiny Tabs album; because this book has over 20 individual pages and transparencies, I’ve broken it up into two posts to better share the special details with you.

My trip to Chicago was a dream come true. I was out there for the Craft and Hobby Association Trade Show and decided to spend a couple of days downtown to check out the sites and do some touristy stuff.

I had never stayed alone in a major city before, so I was a little bit nervous about being in a strange city by myself. As it turns out it was one of the best trips I’ve ever had and today I get to share some of my favorite moments with you.

Because the book has so many pages, I chose to keep the design very simple with a lot of white space and a little bit of journaling. Each photo has a numbered brad 1 through 10. I added a few extra embellishments throughout the pages just to round out the look of the book.

Thanks so much for stopping by and checking out my album. Look for the second half of the book in the upcoming weeks.

Hi there, Linda here. This time I have a cute and girly project to show you. I’ve been working with the very beautiful and versatile Tiny Tabs mix media album. Pattern paper and paper embellishments is from the Nikki Sivils Audrey Collection Kit , very cute and girly. On the cover of the album I’ve used a Dress Form covered with pattern paper and two Bare Basics Wings in heavy-weight kraft chipboard. The paper flower is from my own stash.

I’ve embossed all the acrylic pages with a Sizzix embossing folder to create some extra texture to the pages. On the right page I’ve added some gesso and then used a canvas heart from the Hearts#2 as a mask. Various red Glimmer Mist and Glimmer Glam is added to the page.

The Dress Form  (that I’ve used as a mask on other pages) in heavy-weight kraft chipboard and the dress image from the Audrey Collection makes a beautiful match. This page didn’t need anything else than a few splashes with gesso. On the right page I’ve used the same heart as previous as a mask , Glimmer Mist and just added a sentiment from the paper collection

Here I’ve used the Dress form as a mask when adding Glimmer Mist on the gesso. On the left page I’ve added a star from the Celestial Shapes.

On the left page I’ve added some green Glimmer Glam, from my own stash an 8mm filmstrip. On the right page I’ve added some gesso to one button medium size in heavy-weight kraft chipboard.

Here I’ve added some white gesso to both backgrounds, the same masking technique as previous pages.

The heart I used as a mask have got some glimmer Glam on top of the Mist. All the doodling on the pages is made with a Kuretake Zig writer pure black

The buttons have got a cote with Glimmer Glam

Hopefully this gave you some inspiration to create your own little mix media album.
