A Father’s Day Gift With Nikki Sivils!

May 31st, 2012 | By Rebecca in Altered Art | 7 Comments »

As part of this week’s Basically Bare and Nikki Sivils collaboration, I’m excited to share a fun Father’s Day gift idea with you. I got the chance to work with the “Noah” collection from Nikki Sivils. This line is full of bold patterns and colors that are perfect for all the little boys and grown men in your life. I knew immediately that this would  make a wonderful Father’s Day frame.

I began by covering a wooden frame with some of the patterned paper from “Noah”. I colored some Basically Bare Small Pennants with Kuretake Yellow and Light Blue Zig Painty FX markers and glued them to the top of the frame. I added the Father’s Day scallop and tie shaped die cuts onto the pennants.

After adding a photo, I grounded it with Bare Basics Buttons that I had covered with more of the Nikki Sivils “Noah” patterned papers. Tying twine through the button holes adds lovely texture to the frame.

My kids cannot wait until Father’s Day, they are ready to give this frame to their daddy!

Basically Bare + Nikki Sivils = A Pocket Full Of Sunshine

May 31st, 2012 | By admin in Page Layouts | 9 Comments »

I think we have some of the BEST product Swaps here at Basically Bare! Not only do we get to play with all of the fantastic products that Basically Bare offers, but we are often times lucky enough to pair them with some of the best manufacturers in the industry!

It’s Tanisha here today and I have the pleasure of sharing a layout that I created with Nikki Sivils adorable Noah Collection!!  As soon as I saw those super cute pockets, an idea hit.  I used song lyrics from one of my favorite artists, Natasha Beddingfield, to create my title and journaling.

I used elements from the Celestial Shapes to really carry out the theme.

I covered the sun with 3 coats of WOW embossing powder in Suzy West California Sunshine and 1 coat of Suzy West Sierra Sunrise Embossing Glitter.  I used a Zig Millennium Writer to outline the star and then heat embossed using WOW Clear Gloss Ultra High.  I outlined the pocket with Kuretake Zig Embossing Pen and then embossed using WOW Opaque Bright White embossing powder.

I used Kuretake Fabricolor Markers to color the “pocker full of” alphabet stickers so they would coordinate with the layout better.   I left the acrylic star plain because I wanted to use it to complete the visual triangle and bring attention to my title and journaling.

If you have little boys (as you can see I have 2–very adorable ones, I might add) then you have probably found little treasures in their pockets.  When I saw this pocket banner, I knew I had to “stuff” them with some boy things.

I used WOW Clear Ultra High Embossing Powder and Kuretake Zig embossing pen  to highlight the pocket designs.

I wrote my journaling with the embossing pen and then used WOW Opaque Bright White powder to make it pop.

Thanks for stopping by today!!

Tanisha

Road Trip (Are We There Yet?)

May 30th, 2012 | By Veronica in Mini Albums & Journals | 10 Comments »

Hello, its me Veronica and I want to show you what I made for our Basically Bare and Nikki Sivils Swap!

I used the Exit Here collection from Nikki Sivils and also the Plain Jane mini album from Basically Bare.  The reason I chose this particular album is because I LOVE the envelopes!  It is a great place to tuck in all my journaling cards and extra mementos or photos.  The Plain Jane album has four envelopes and 1 chipboard page.  It is a very easy album to work with and you get lots of real estate for your photos

This cute camera is from the Paparazzi Set.  You get black and plain chipboard.  I took my camera and embellished it with the Exit paper and some twill.  Then I grundged it.

I love the envelopes I get in this album.  The envelopes also have flaps so your photo and mementos will not spill out.  Of course I grundged up the envelopes too.

Love the celestial shapes embellies.  I painted my sun with Kuretake painty pens.

I left the black chipboard camera as is, but glued it on 3 sides only so I can slip in a tag

The film strip chipboard is also from the Paparazzi set.  Again I adhered the film strip on 3 sides only so that you can slip in your photos behind the flim strip

I used several of the Retro Arrows throughout the mini, some I left as is, some I painted with painty pens and some I glittered

Here is a view of the tags that go in the four pockets.  These are so great for journaling

Basically Bare embellies used: Celestial Shapes, Retro Arrows, Paparazzi Set, Plain Jane Mini Album

Nikki Silvis products used: Exit Here collection

Also Used:  Kuretake Painty Pens, May Art Ribbon, Prima Flowers, Petaloo Flowers, Stampendous Glitter, Mark Richards Bling.

Hope you enjoyed my “Road Trip” mini album.  Be sure to come back for more fabulous items that my team members have made for this weeks swap with Nikki and make sure you visit  Nikki Sivils blog.

DeeDee’s Nikki Sivils Goodness

May 30th, 2012 | By admin in Altered Art, Hearts, Pennants, Uncategorized | 9 Comments »

So many posts this month I feel famous!! I got super lucky and got a spot in the Nikki Sivils Swap — I was sent the “Exit Here” collection to work with.

To make my little “containers” (which happen to be full of vintage ribbon.. perfect for a mantle or kitchen table center piece!) I cut three of the patterned papers to 7.25 x 4 inches. Roll the paper to overlap about 1/4 inch and glue. Then flatten one edge, glue and cut with decorative scissors! If you’re thinking of using an edge punch I suggest punching BEFORE you glue :)

This baby uses the patterned paper, and die cuts from the sheet in the collection pack. It also uses A large chipboard pennant piece from the Basic Embellies Large Pennant pack which was covered in other pieces of patterned paper from Nikki’s collection pack. It has a double layer cut slightly smaller on top.

This one uses 2 more of the die cuts, some May Arts ribbon and a canvas heart from the Basically Embellies Heart Set 2. I dabbed some Pumice Stone distress stain and Spun Sugar distress stain on my teflon mat, spritzed with water and then dipped the heart into it.

And the third one utilizes LOTS of the die cuts, some pop dots and the perfectly round tree top from the Basically Embellies Happy Little Trees set. I used a crop-o-dile to punch holes in the felt and ran a Zig Yellow Painty FX pen through the holes to give them a bit of color.. I thought the yellow might be TOO yellow, so I went over it with a White Painty FX pen after it was dry :)

Here you can see the layering and “popping”

Enjoy!! -DeeDee
