This book had me at hello. The perfect size to get creative, show lot’s of pictures and have enough room to journal. I covered it with Core’dinations cardstock. It has a such great dimension and offers fabulous texture and neat designs. Then I decorated it with Fancy Pants papers and Jillibean Soup alphabet letters.

Here’s a closeup. I did extend the cardstock to cover my tabs. I used an exacto knife to follow the tabs for a more precise cut, then I sanded the edges and inked the. This helps define them more.

The inside page, I covered again with Core’dinations cardstock. Love it. Because I knew that the front and back pages would take a lot of beating, I did cover them with Decopage. It is a clear, satin finish glue that seals everything in. Works great, however, didn’t leave me showing you the crisp photo, a tad blurred. my apologies.

The next page is a canvas sheet. You can leave and use it in its raw state like below.

But I knew I wanted to brighten it up a bit, so I painted it with a white acrylic paint, and then started doodling and colouring with my Copic markers.

When I stuck the title letters to this page, I did use a liquid adhesive like Beacon’s Fabritak because I wanted it to stick well, knowing it would absorb some into the fabric.

The next page I wrote down all of the kids school friends. Great mementos to look back on. On the back side of this page, I will cover it with pics from school of the kids hanging out.

I used 2 of the Basically Bare birds on this page. I painted them with Tattered Angels Glimmer Glaze and Glam. Added a little white paint for the eyes, and a little marker work around the white. Sparkly creatures.

Check back tomorrow to see a few more pages from this book.

Two Turtle Doves…

December 21st, 2011 | By admin in Altered Art, Birds, Hearts | 2 Comments »

This season I spent a lot of time making ornaments with the kids. When I was trying to think of what to do with Basically Bare products, I knew right away when I saw the birds that they were going to become my 2 Turtle Doves, like in the song.

I thought the birds were perfect in their natural white, so I didn’t alter them at all, instead we just added googly eyes (the kids LOVE these).

I wrapped a dollar store wreath with tulle and jute. Then I covered a Basically Bare heart with Core’dinations Cardstock, did a little inking and adhered. At first I was going to put Christmas greenery behind the birds, but green on green didn’t seem to pop. Instead I put some Fall coloured stems behind and I was much happier with the outcome. Then it was fun to layer the birds on the wreath.

Here’s some more views:

Hope everyone has a super awesome Holiday season full of love. Enjoy your time with family & friends, and I hope you get a few minutes to create art!

Take Care,

Cupcake Gift Bag

December 2nd, 2011 | By admin in Cupcakes, Uncategorized | 1 Comment »

Today I am showing you a cute little Gift Bag I made with the cupcake shapes. Love it!

I started out with the chipboard cupcake liner shape. Then I scored lines in it to mimic the liners. I ran brown ink over the shape and then when I made the scores I ran ink again over just the scores to give it a little depth.

It was so quick and easy to assemble after that. I knew I just wanted the fluffy icing top, so I didn’t alter that at all. I just put on stickers to look like sprinkles.

Thanks for looking.

Create a Tag for a friend

I started out with a chipboard heart shape. I covered it with glue.

Then I placed Core’dinations cardstock over it.

Then cut out the shape with an exacto knife.(not shown: I also sanded the edges to make them a little distressed and some of the Core cardstock for depth.)

assemble tag, and here’s a closeup.

Enjoy!!!

Hallowe’en Layout

November 2nd, 2011 | By admin in Banners, Birds, Dress Forms, Page Layouts | No Comments »

Hallowe’en came and went. I’m kinda sad cause I love the craziness of getting dressed up and the mystique of the occasion with the kids. But now, the excitement of Christmas, woohoo!!! This is GREAT!

So this last week, I was reminiscing about previous Hallowe’ens, realizing I needed to get caught up before I can scrap this years photos.

I broke out some Basically Bare pendants, a dress form and a bird and did a little decorating. The layout came together really well.

The thing is, the little bare shapes are the perfect weight and size for a layout. I simply covered them in Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L products and adhered the paper or ribbon to the shapes. Stuck like a dream!

signing off as the crafty witch, until next year! now to get ready for Christmas!

A little Graphic 45 Mini Album

October 21st, 2011 | By admin in Uncategorized | 2 Comments »

I had so much fun starting out with this adorable little mixed media album. I love having the option of different types of pages. My absolute FAVOURITE part of this album is the envelope pages. How PERFECT for when I can gather memorabilia such as ticket stubs, receipts, coins, or a great place to keep notes I took. I love that in between the envelope pages are perfect ones for putting photos on. In the following photos you will be able to see that I enjoy leaving some of the black envelope edges showing, and sometimes I like to cover the entire page.
Piano g45 cover

The best part that I enjoyed when I was creating my mini album was that this album has so many different medias that allow me more flexibility in my album. I liked the strength of the pages, knowing it isn’t made of flimsy material. I love when I can load up my albums and know they won’t bend and droop. The main purpose I wanted out of this particular Basically Bare album was durability, multiple options and a perfect coffee sized album.

Ironically, I was able to find an old cell phone box that could hold this album PERFECTLY!

I liked putting some Ranger Enamel liquid on the black envelope part, it offered a little dimension. The crystal buttons seemed to also enhance the envelope closure. I tried something new on all the envelopes.

Some pages I just covered in prep for when I do have photos to further decorate the pages with.

I used Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L adhesive to adhere the entire thing down. Please go there to see more pages to this album if you would like.

break out the glimmer mist…

September 21st, 2011 | By admin in Cards | 1 Comment »

because it definitely works FANTASTIC on Basically Bare products!!!!! I had been creating a layout for 3L with the mist and accidentally oversprayed on a bare product. hmm, wheels begin turning and next thing you know… yeppers, I was creating with some of the flour de lis felt. And I am SUPER happy with the results. The best part it only takes a few minutes to dry.

I wasn’t sure what I wanted to do with this. SO of course, why not a card?  Sorry for the small image of the card. Having a few weird uploading issues. But you get the idea. Fabulous product= fabulous fun!

Fleur de Lis Card

September 2nd, 2011 | By admin in Cards, Uncategorized | 3 Comments »

Today I knew I was going to show a project with the fleur de lis, but I didn’t know what i wanted to make. Once I started playing, it slowly started turning into a card. I am absolutely impressed with how EASY it is to get a good coverage on the basically bare products. They are cute bare… but today I wanted a pinch of colour. So I grabbed my Core’dinations cardstock and covered it. Was totally in love with the results!

What a fun little touch to this card!

Thanks for looking!

Flowers

August 21st, 2011 | By admin in Altered Art, Hearts | 87 Comments »

My friend just opened a BRAND NEW store in Saskatoon (Scrapbook Studio) and I have been honoured to make decorations for everything. I of course LOVE this! So for each “section” I have made banners. This just seemed the perfect place to show off some Basically Bare products. So I grabbed 2 different sizes of the hearts, painted them, inked them, added stickles, layered some flowers on them and hinges and voila. Added the perfect amount of punch to my project! Love it!

Here are a couple close-ups.

So what are you doing with your BARE products lately????? I’m digging them…off to use them to make more decorations.

Vintage Family Album

August 17th, 2011 | By admin in Mini Albums & Journals | 4 Comments »

Hello Everyone!

today is my first blog post with Basically Bare and I am soooo stoked. I totally am in love with all the hip and trendy things this company is offering! I decided for my first post i would show you my mini album. The inserts are envelopes and I can’t wait for each family to write something to put in them. this month over at Vintage Street Market we were playing with Basically Bare products and I thoroughly enjoyed using their product to decorate my album. For the front cover, you can see I used lot’s of Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L foam squares and foam tape to get extra dimension on my album.

Here’s a few interior shots of the album.

I LOVED working with these little gear shapes. They were super easy to ink, distress and adhere. I love how easy in general it is to work with these fabulous albums. Hope you have a fantastic day creating!!!!
