Guest Designer Erika Taylor- Day Two

June 29th, 2012 | By admin in Mini Albums & Journals | 13 Comments »

I’m back again today with a bunch of photos to share with you everyone. Erika Taylor here today to show you a little Boys of Summer mini album I created using the Tiny Tabs Mini Album, Happy Little Houses , Gears #2 and Celestial Shapes from Basically Bare. I wanted to create a little album filled with 3 of my favorite boys of summer. So here it is.

I dismantled the entire album and used the acrylic piece as my front page. I added alcohol inks, cheese cloth dyed with Tattered Angels glimmer mists and papers from FabScraps. I love the way that the cheese cloth looks when you ink it up.

Now for the rest of the album. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did creating it.

For the next page, I used one of the sweet houses from Happy Little Houses to add a bit of texture and layer.

The Sun is from the Celestial Shapes pack. I think this is one of my favorite Basically Bare shapes. So versatile!!

For this next page, I used one of the black chipboard gears from the Gears #2 pack and created my own ship wheel. Loving how it turned out.

The cloud is from the Celestial Shapes pack and is perfect for this little scene. I covered it with patterned paper and mounted it with Zapdots.

And finally the back page. Simple and full of texture.

These little Tiny Tabs Albums are so much fun to create with and can easily be deconstructed to create banners, ATC holders or name plate. Pick up a few with your next Basically Bare order. You are going to LOOOOOOVE them.

That’s it for me today. I’ll be back one last time tomorrow to share my final Guest Designer project for Basically Bare. Until then

Pocket Book Wedding Style!!!

February 18th, 2012 | By admin in Altered Art, Hearts, Mini Albums & Journals | 5 Comments »

I’ve never been a Mini Album kinda girl. Always thought I didn’t have what it took to create them. That all changed when I received my new CHA releases from Basically Bare. My brain started working overtime and the ideas started flooding in.

Hey there everyone, Erika Taylor here to share with you one of the albums I created for the Basically Bare CHA booth this year. I wanted to create something that would keep some of my wedding memories alive, so I went into uber romance mode and this album was the end result. This Pocket book was perfect to hold some of the items that I kept from our Vegas wedding. So here we go…

Here is the front cover, filled with Authentique papers, lace, rhinestones and distress ink. Followed by the pages of the Pocket Book in order for you to see.

The next page uses one of the Basically Bare hearts

The heart below is a combination of the acrylic Basically Bare heart, a tag, then the chipboard heart for sturdiness

Our Wedding Vows…

This album was such a joy to create and I hope that you have fallen in love with the wonderful Pocket Books available from Basically Bare. The options for creating with these are endless.

Thank you so much for stopping in today. I hope that I’ve inspired you and I would love to hear about your weddings. Leave me a comment and let me know what your fondest wedding moment is.

until next time

Eggshell Brooch and Little Sneaks

January 24th, 2012 | By admin in Altered Art, Paisleys | 2 Comments »

Hey there everyone, Erika Taylor here today to share with you a project I created from some serious inspiration. Trudy Sjolander created a beautiful heart brooch a while back and I had to try my hand in creating one too. For this piece I used a chipboard piece from the Stack-a-Bellies Paisley pack. I first brushed the entire chipboard surface with Helmar Acid Free Glue, then applied the crushed eggshells to the Paisley piece. Once dry I gave it a thick coat of Helmar Decoupage and Craft paste.

While the paisley was still wet, I sprinkled a few colors of Wow Embossing Powders onto it. (Nutmeg and Olive earthtones). I grabbed my heat gun and set it. Purdy Purdy. Last but not least I added a coat of Helmar Sealer to protect it. The outcome? here it is!!!

A close up of those eggshells…

I think I’m going to try one of these using the fantastic Bare Basic Gears. Now that would be cool!!!

Now yesterday on the Basically Bare blog we shared the new Tiny Tabs album. I’m going to need a million of these and that says a lot considering I’ve never embrace mini albums. UNTIL NOW!!! I wanted to share with you just 1 page I created. If you are going to CHA, stop by Booth #2704 to see all of the amazing albums that Basically Bare is releasing. I’ll see you there!!!

Until next time

Love Birds

January 14th, 2012 | By admin in Birds, Cards, Hearts | 2 Comments »

With Valentines day right around the corner, my mind and heart are filled with romance. Guess that it helps immensely when you have a super lovable and handsome husband hehe.

Hey there everyone Erika Taylor here today to share with you a fun card I created using the Bare Basics Hearts and Stack-a-Bellies Birds. I first stamped the heart and bird with a great stamp from WOW Embossing Powders and embossed them with bright bold colors. Then I spritzed all of the chipboard pieces with Sun Sisters Glimmer Mist. Last but not least, I added a little Robins Egg Blue marker to the little birdie for a bit of contrast. Love how this one turned out and I hope you do too.

First off a close up of part of the heart. I love how Glimmer Mist takes to Basically Bare Chipboard!!!

The little birdie is layered on top of the heart. Here you can really see the marker for definition. I added as few rhinestones too.

Aren’t these colors just exploding with happiness??? Yup I think so.

And here is the entire card for ya. Full right up with Basically Bare goodness!!!

Try combining embossing and misting on your Basically Bare embellishments. They truly are the perfect pairing. Thanks so much for stopping by today. Until next time.

Winter Wreath- Up-cycling

January 6th, 2012 | By admin in Birds, Blossoms and Leaves | 2 Comments »

Although the Christmas season is over, Winter is still hanging on. A little snow on the ground and cold evenings persist here in Alberta and will probably be here till March. So I thought I’d let some snow inspire me to add on to a project I created a while back. Now what pieces of Basically Bare goodness would work perfectly? A little bird and some flowers turned into snowflakes sounds like the perfect match.

Hey everyone, Erika Taylor here today to share a project with you using Stack-a-Bellies Birds and Bare Basics Blossoms. I don’t usually do a whole lot of up-cycling, but looking at this wreath just made something click. Why not add a little beauty to it? So away I went, altering some wonderful; Basically Bare bits to really complete this winter wreath.

For the sweet little bird I used some Jenni Bowlin Paint dauber and Denim Distress Stickles over a snowflake emboss. I made sure to leave a little chipboard exposed to give that little tweeter a vintage feel.

Here is an image so you can really see how amazing these chipboard pieces from Basically Bare take to embossing and paint!!!

The blossoms were painted with Pearl paint dauber and then I adhered some diamond dust to the tops to transform the blossoms to snowflakes. Purdy Purdy Purdy I tell ya.

So there ya have it, an up-cycled project that is now complete thanks to some very pretty Basically Bare beauties. Thanks so much for stopping by today. I hope you are all enjoying the beginnings of our new year.

Stay safe and keep warm

Another Button Frame and an Extra Treat

December 23rd, 2011 | By admin in Altered Art | 1 Comment »

Yes, you’ve seen a button frame from me before, but I just had to make another. I needed a pair of them for a Christmas gift so there ya have it. Hey there everyone, Erika Taylor here today and I am so ready for Christmas. Presents are wrapped, clothes are hanging, cookies for Santa are ready. Today I’ve got a frame and an ornament to share with you.

First off, The frame uses the Bare Basic Buttons and Bare Basic Hearts. Where is the heart you ask? The wings are the heart, I just cut them hehe. I like cutting things up, what can I say. So shall we go the the show? here it is for ya. Filled with Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist Goodness too.

Now for a few close ups of those delish buttons

Yum Yum Yum Right?Ah heck de doodles, it is the Season, so I made a little extra something for todays post. This ornament is made from the Stack-a-Bellies Owls and the Up Up and Away set. I used the acrylic and canvas circles for the ornament itself (the acrylic is sandwiched in between the canvas for some support). The Holly leaves are cut from the Owls wings and the holly berries are his eyes. Now if that wasn’t fantastic enough, I want to show you something really special!!! The design on the canvas is embossing powder!!!!! Yup Embossing Powder from a company called WoW. WOW indeed.

A few close ups for ya

That’s it for me today. I hope all of you have a fantastic Holiday Season. From the Taylor house to yours…

Happy Holidays

Parisian Love Card

December 14th, 2011 | By admin in Cards | 2 Comments »

Isn’t the combination of pinks and blacks just beautiful? Reminds me so much of Paris, and why? I haven’t a clue. So today I’ve got a card to share with you using the LOVEly locket set.

Hi everyone, Erika Taylor here today and I’m in heaven!!! These little lockets are beautiful and so stinkin fun to emboss and paint. For this card I used the swirls embossing folder, silver embossing powder and paint. I layered them up and alternated the colors to give contrast. I think this is my favorite thing to do with the Basically Bare chipboard. So off to the Parisian races we go…

A little Diamond Dust over top to give it a bit of a vintage feel and this is the end resultSo pretty and very different.

Here is a close up of the embossing so you can see how well the chipboard from Basically Bare takes to this technique.

What a fun technique to do. I had so much fun doing this, that I had to create a little ornament using it and the Stars from the Celestial Shapes pack.

Well, that is all for me today. Thanks so much for stopping by the Basically Bare Blog. I hope that I’ve inspired you a little to emboss emboss emboss those CHIPPIES!!!

Until next time

Noel with a Canvas Banner

December 6th, 2011 | By admin in Banners | No Comments »

What can I say, I’m a Timmy fan and his 12 tags of Christmas always gets my attention. So when that first tag came out, I had the perfect piece of canvas goodness to create it with. Hi everyone, Erika Taylor here today to share with you my take on Tag 1 this year.

For this card I used the smallest canvas banner and first sprayed it with Vanilla Breeze Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist. Before it was completely dry, I stamped the banner with a postage stamp I have. The ink ran to really give a vintage feel. LOVE IT!!! Pretty Pretty Pretty I say

I love how easy it is to fold and manipulate these canvas pieces. To create the dimension, I used Helmar Liquid Scrap Dots. This helped lift the folds to give them that height I was looking for.

Isn’t the color of that banner sweet? Against all that cool winter colors, it really gives the card a POP.

One more picture hehe

The perfect addition to any Vintage card I’m positive. These canvas banners are so pretty to work with and I love how the end result always blows my mind. Do you have your canvas banners yet? Well what are ya waiting for!!!

Thanks so much for stopping by the Basically Bare blog today. Let me know what you think. We all love your comments here on the blog, so don’t be shy!!!

Until Next Time

Steampunk Canvas

November 29th, 2011 | By admin in Altered Art | 1 Comment »

I’ve been sitting on these amazing gears from Basically Bare since I first got them. Knowing that they would become a part of a canvas, just waiting for the full idea to come to fruition. Then it struck!!!! and let me tell you, out of all the things I’ve created since I started crafting, this is my favorite by far.

Hi everyone, Erika Taylor here today to share with you a large canvas piece I created using Bare Basics Gears set 1 and 2 as well as the bricks from the Climbing Ivy Set. First off for the gears, I’ve embossed them using a few different colors and also masked to create dimension. The bricks have been painted with Glimmer Mist and for the mortar I used Glass Bead Medium.

With a few of the gears, I’ve double embossed to really give texture. You can see that in the photo below.

You’ll also see that I’ve used a few different colors on the gears to give them a vintage /rusted feel.

I absolutely love how the bricks turned out. I used a combination of Marmalade, Harvest Orange, and Coffee Shop Glimmer Mist on them.

Yum yum yum!!!This canvas, although quite large, was so fun to create. I wanted a real industrial feel with just a touch of whimsy, hence the feathers and butterflies.

Thank you so so very much for stopping by today. I’m honored to be able to show you some different things you can do with the Basically Bare embellishments. Possibilities are truly endless.

Until next time

Easter? What about Christmas

November 18th, 2011 | By admin in Birds | 1 Comment »

With all the Christmas projects I have on the go right now, I wanted to take a quick break and create something Springy!!! I know, I know, winter has just started and I’m already thinking of green grass lol.

Hi everyone, Erika Taylor here today to share with you a sweet little ATC I created for a Dixie Pieces crop challenge recently. It was a set of 4 representing each season and when I started with spring, I knew that I had to make a cute little baby chick from the Stack-a-bellies Birds pack. I stippled on the yellow paint and painted some feathers on the wings. The background is created using Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist  and a few embossing powders.

Here are a few great close ups of this little chick and how amazing Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist works with them.

Look at the sparkle on this next one. YUMMO!!!!!

So there ya have it. A little Springtime ATC using some great products from Basically Bare.

Thanks so much for stopping by today. I hope you are all having a terrific Friday. Until next time.
