Celebrate Cinco de Mayo with Basically Bare Chipboard

May 5th, 2013 | By Veronica in Blossoms and Leaves, Page Layouts, Pennants | 1 Comment »

Happy Cinco De Mayo!  Veronica here to share another layout with you.  I am going to a Cinco De Mayo party so I thought I would get a layout ready. I also have some pictures from when I went to Puerto Vallarta, so maybe I will use those.

I have to admit to all that I am a paper hoarder so I have been “saving” this paper for a long while LOL.

I decided to split my title between my two pages and used the small Basically Bare pennants to add “MEXICO”.

I also used the Fanciful Frames Set II.  These are great to use and it really is great if you want to focus on a particular photo. Doesn’t my photo of Frida Kahlo look good?

I added lots of fuzzy fiber and some pinata embellies that I cut out of paper and layered. I thought it enhanced the flavor of ‘ole Mexico.

I decided rather than having just cardstock as my background I would dress it up with some Art Anthology and stencils and give my paper a pattern.

Notice the cute flower on the upper right hand corner.  I used Basically Bare Blossoms and Leaves, and I stacked some K&Co. flowers on top.

The Moon and Stars Hey Diddle, Diddle

April 12th, 2013 | By Veronica in Celestial Shapes, Page Layouts | 1 Comment »

It’s me again, Veronica here to share a two page layout with a nursery rhyme themed for baby.

It has been a long while since I made a layout for baby, so I thought this would be cute to do.  I love using the Basically Bare “celestial shapes” and I thought the nursery rhyme “Hey Diddle, Diddle” went perfectly with the clouds, moon and stars

On both the felt clouds and the chipboard stars I used Art Anthology “linen” sorbet.  It gives not only a shine but also texture which I love.  I also added some blue glitter to the star and rim of the clouds.

Of course you can always cover the chipboard pieces with paper as I did with the moon and one of the stars :)   I just like using the chipboard because it gives dimension to the pages.

Hope you enjoyed my nursery rhyme.  Thank you for stopping by …

Happy Scrappin,

Hippity Hop Cards with Basically Bare

March 17th, 2013 | By Veronica in Blossoms and Leaves, Celestial Shapes, Hearts | No Comments »

Hi Veronica here and it’s almost Easter!  I was in the mood to make some cutesy cards – I hope you enjoy!

I used the celestial Shapes (chipboard) and I though it would would make a great spring flower.  I covered the sun chipboard in pattern paper (MyLYB) then stacked some prima flowers and topped off with a cute yellow button.

Here is another cute card using the canvas Heart and just inked edges.  Notice I used the smallest flower of the “Blossoms and Leaves” pack and stacked the covered chipboard with some prima and button to create dimension and texture.

I also drew this quick and easy carrot to make my “spring” card more colorful.

Thank you for stopping and happy scrapping

Valentine Cards with hearts and wings

February 9th, 2013 | By Veronica in Cards, Cupcakes, Dress Forms, Hearts, Oh So Mini, Uncategorized | No Comments »

Hi, Veronica here to share some romantic sweetness.  Are you making plans with your Valentine?  Why not start by making a Valentine Card from the heart (and wings).  Plus a little cupcake sweetness thrown in.

I  am excited to share with you today two Valentine Cards and One Sweet Door Hanger to help you decorate for Valentine’s Day.

First I used the Basically Bare chipboard Hearts, and to the lovely heart I added some angel wings.

In the heart package you also get FELT hearts!

On my second Valentine’s Card I decided to use (one of my absolute favorites) small dress form.  In the dress form package you get different sizes and also cardboard and chipboard

To make my dress form beautiful and blingy I added Linen sorbet from Art Anthology

For my last project I made a Valentine’s Day door hanger.  It is pure sweetness.

For this piece I used the Rounded Oh So Mini page, the felt medium size fanciful frame, cupcake and felt wings

I had alot of fun decorating my “cupcake” I used lots of the layers, linen sorbet and bling.

Hope you enjoyed my Valentine goodies, happy scrapping …

Basically Bare Plain Jane Album not so plain

January 20th, 2013 | By Veronica in By Product, Dress Forms, Hearts, Krafty Keepsake Album, Mini Albums & Journals | 2 Comments »

Hi, Veronica here to share with you a lovely little album by Basically Bare Krafty Keepsakes  that I call ADORE.  Who says that Valentine’s Day or a Romantic Keepsake album has to be Red and Pink?

I just love the envelope pockets in this album!  I decorated the envelope pages with the Basically Bare Hearts so that I can easily pull out the tags.  There is room on the tags for lots of journaling or you can store extra photos inside the pockets!

Notice the wings that I added to the hearts.  Nothing says “LOVE” more than hearts and wings.  Is this c-u-t-e or what?

There are so many ways and techniques you can use to embellish the Basically Bare chipboard pieces.  On this dress form I decided to wrap it in ribbon.

Thank you for stopping by Basically Bare

Winter at Grandma’s House

December 31st, 2012 | By Veronica in Celestial Shapes, Fanciful Frames Set 1, Pennants, Uncategorized | 1 Comment »

Hello, its me Veronica and its my last post for 2012!  I want to wish everyone a Happy New Year and may we all have peace and scrappiness for 2013.

Today I would like to share a layout I did using BoBunny’s Powder Mountain winter collection.  I have this awesome photo taken from G’ma Elsie’s window in MN and like they say:  “A picture is worth a thousand words.”

I used the Fanciful Frames large felt frame to highlight my photo.  I also added a layer of the Art Anthology “linen” sorbet to give it that frosty look; both on the felt frame and bottom on the title and embellishments.

I just love these small pennants.  It makes a great base for your journaling, titles or subtitle.  I covered my pennants and the stars with the “powder mountain” collection by BoBunny and added linen sorbet and lovely bling.

Again, thank you for stopping by and visiting.

Happy New Year,

Veronica Johnson (kitsnbitscraps)

Basically Bare: Celestial Shapes, Fanciful Frames Set, small pennants

Art Anthology: Sorbet (linen)

SWAP with amazing Art Anthology!

December 21st, 2012 | By Veronica in Embellishment Sets, Fanciful Frames Set 2, Gears, Happy Little Hosues, Uncategorized | 2 Comments »

Hi everyone! Veronica here to share my tags with you today.  I am so excited to be swapping with the amazing products of Art Anthology!

Art Anthology makes multi dimensional gel paint that adds rich texture to any  project you create.  The best part is that it has tons of shimmery goodness. Their product has already become my favorite “go to” for my mixed media designs.  The best way to describe this fabulous product is to show you what I made.

This “wild about winter” tag would be great as an embellishment for a page or mini album and it would also be great (to someone special) as a gift tag.  Does it look icey and wintery?  That is what I was going for and I think I accomplished that by using the Art Anthology  sorbet product.

I used the Basically Bare “happy little houses” for my tag.

I wanted that whole wintery and cold feel to the tag so I added snow to the roof top – just look at all that shimmer from the “Linen” sorbet.  Doesn’t it look like icey snow!  Plus it added dimension to my house!

Here I used the Basically acrylic gears which I ran through my embossing folder then coated with the “linen” sorbet to make the gear look like a snowflake!

I also used the “linen” sorbet to adhere my dew drops and bling to my tag.

Since the “Linen” color is translucent I painted over my tag with it and made it look iced over.  I also adhered my “snowflakes” that I cut from a daisy ribbon and then coated over the “snowflakes” with more “Linen” sorbet.  It doesn’t show up very well here but the whole thing is very glittery!

I also made a cute ornament for my Christmas tree using the Basically Bare Frame Set II.

On the frame I painted a coat of the sorbet “Tigers Eye“.  Then I used a crafters workshop stencil and layered a coat of the sorbet “linen”.

While the “Linen” sorbet was still wet I sprinkled embossing powder on top and heat set it. WOW! I love the way the pattern came out.  So textured and glittery!!

After that was dry I went ahead and decorated my Christmas Frame Ornament.  One of the things I added was the “Blossoms & Leaves” Basically Bare set.

For the canvas leaf I sprayed the colorations “Fern Leaf” on the canvas then when it dryed I added a layer of the ”Linen” sorbet.  So are you getting the feeling I LOVE LOVE LOVE using the sorbet!

Thank you for stopping by and letting me share my contribution to the Swap with Basically Bare and Art Anthology.

Happy Scrapping

Swap with Bella Blvd and new Basically Bare Easel Ablum

November 30th, 2012 | By Veronica in Blossoms and Leaves, Buttons, Easy Easel, Happy Little Hosues, Mini Albums & Journals, Mixed-Media Albums, Uncategorized | 5 Comments »

Hellow everyone!  It’s Veronica here again with an adorable mini album for all your Thanksgiving photos!  This week (Nov. 26 – 30th) the Basically Bare design team members are doing a swap with Bella Blvd.  So for my swap I decided to use the cutest Bella Blvd “Thankful” collection.

I am also using the brand new “Easel Ablum” by Basically Bare.  This album is perfect for any mini you have in mind.  The Easel album makes such a great coffee table album for all your treasured memories.  The “easy easel” bare booklets album comes with pages that are 4×6 and 5×5 so you have plenty of space to create an awesome mini.

The thing I love most about the Bella Blvd “Thankful” collection is that the line comes with a couple of different style of tag pages.  It is so easy to pick out the tag you want to use for your journaling or as a design element on your album, for example my front page.

Thank you for stopping by to visit, hope you enjoyed my mini.

Happy Scrapping,

Veronica Johnson / Kitsnbitscraps

Thanks Turkey!

November 27th, 2012 | By Marilyn in Altered Art, Cupcakes, Happy Little Hosues, Uncategorized | 3 Comments »

Good morning, Marilyn here with a new creation especially for you.  When I think of Thanksgiving, I think of turkey, pies, and home.  So, with that in mind, I created the following 4×6.

I started with a piece of mechanical board (a fave of mine) and covered it with alternating strips of Bella Blvd’s Homey and Trees (backside) paper.  I then edged the top and bottom using Bella Blvd’s designer paper tape.  It gives a nice finished edge to the piece.

Then I made a pie.  I started with a Basically Bare Stack-a-Bellies cupcake with a felt top.  I trimmed up the bottom piece just a bit on the top of the sides and colored it with Espresso acrylic paint.  Then using a Snow Cap paint dabber, I pounced the paint on the white felt top.  I wanted the slightly uneven coverage this gave.  Finally, I carefully painted on two slits.   Moving the top further down on the bottom turned the cupcake into a pie!

To make my banner, I used the some of the doors from Basically Bare’s Happy Little Houses set.  I ran a Snow Cap paint dabber across the chipboard, going for a streaked appearance to imitate a painted wood board.  I then used the “THANKS” sticker from Bella Blvd’s Thankful sticker sheet.

Hope you enjoy my project for today!  Until later………………Smiles~
