Joy wall hanging with Art Anthology

December 21st, 2012 | By Rebecca in Altered Art | No Comments »

Hi everyone, Rebecca here! My project for the Art Anthology and Basically Bare swap is an old metal frame that needed new life breathed into it.

I covered the entire frame with some flat green paint, then added Bare Basics Buttons and a Fanciful Frame II that had been coated with Satin Sheen Gold Sorbet from Art Anthology.

Just look at the sparkle and texture in the Sorbet, so beautiful! The photos do not do this stuff justice, believe me!

A Father’s Day Gift With Nikki Sivils!

May 31st, 2012 | By Rebecca in Altered Art | 7 Comments »

As part of this week’s Basically Bare and Nikki Sivils collaboration, I’m excited to share a fun Father’s Day gift idea with you. I got the chance to work with the “Noah” collection from Nikki Sivils. This line is full of bold patterns and colors that are perfect for all the little boys and grown men in your life. I knew immediately that this would  make a wonderful Father’s Day frame.

I began by covering a wooden frame with some of the patterned paper from “Noah”. I colored some Basically Bare Small Pennants with Kuretake Yellow and Light Blue Zig Painty FX markers and glued them to the top of the frame. I added the Father’s Day scallop and tie shaped die cuts onto the pennants.

After adding a photo, I grounded it with Bare Basics Buttons that I had covered with more of the Nikki Sivils “Noah” patterned papers. Tying twine through the button holes adds lovely texture to the frame.

My kids cannot wait until Father’s Day, they are ready to give this frame to their daddy!

Camp Sweet Camp

May 23rd, 2012 | By Rebecca in Altered Art | 3 Comments »

Our family loves going camping. There is just something about being outside and enjoying the fresh air. We love fishing, the smell of the campfire, swimming, roasting marshmallows and making yummy grilled food. This year, I thought it would be nice to make something for our campsite. I turned to products from The Paper Loft, Kuretake, and, of course, Basically Bare to bring this cute camp sign to life.

I used a corrugated page from the Betty’s Brackets album as the base of this project. I covered it with paper from the Scattered Pine Mountain collection from The Paper Loft. To color a Basically Bare Happy Little Tree, I used a Pure Brown Zig Writer and a Green Zig Fabricolor Twin marker from Kuretake.

On the tree, I covered Bare Basics Buttons with paper from the Hunting Accessory Sheet from The Paper Loft. I love this paper because it lists things you would have with you if you were camping, and that makes it perfect for this “Camp Sweet Camp” sign!

Be sure to check out the Paper Loft and see all of their great lines!
