Red Barn Love

30 January 2013 | By Katrina in Blossoms and Leaves, By Product, Celestial Shapes, Embellishment Sets, Happy Little Hosues, Page Layouts

Hey, it’s me Katrina again!  Occasionally, I love to just take a drive with no intent of winding up any place in particular.  Since I live in the Midwest, this often involves driving thru farming country.  I have always loved to see barns out in the middle of nowhere.  But since I have really started taking pictures as a “hobby” (or more!), I am itching to get out and find some good barns to photograph.  The picture on this layout came from a drive up in Central Missouri.  It was a great late afternoon/evening and I have some fun pictures from it.  BUT, this barn picture is my favorite!

For the cloud, I used a felt blossom from the Blossoms set that I had cut in half previously.  I misted with some Art Anthology mists in two different colors.  Then, I added some of the Art Anthology Sorbet paint in the Frost color to the cloud to lighten it up a little.

I am trying to incorporate more journaling into my layouts.  So, I popped some journaling on a label and added it at the bottom of my layout.  It’s just something I don’t usually do, but am trying to do more!

And then the tree from the Happy Little Trees set!  I used a stencil from Crafter’s Workshop and just misted with a couple of colors from Art Anthology.  For the trunk of the tree, I did a gesso base coat.  Then, I used some Art Anthology Sorbet paint in a brown color.  I wanted to tone down the sparkle, so after the trunk dried I inked the edges with some distress ink for shadowing.  I also used a bare chipboard star from the Celestial set to anchor part of my title.  I loved the bare look to it!

Thanks for stopping by today!  And make sure to take that camera on those impromptu road trips!  You might just love the pictures you end up with from it.
