Enchanted

15 September 2012 | By Beth in Altered Art, Dress Forms

Good morning, y’all!  It’s September now, which means I am fully into what I like to call my “Come ON, Halloween!” phase.  And all my projects that I’m working on at the moment are definitely showing it, including this little treat box.  It started its life as a cardboard book.  You know, those little fake books that usually have hideous designs on the outside and don’t look a thing like a book?  Yep.  One of those.

I painted it with black acrylic paint and then covered it with some fantastic Authentique papers.  I think this is my favorite Halloween paper collection this year, and that’s saying quite a lot.  I used a Ranger Acrylic Paint Dabber to distress the edges of the papers that covered the box.

The Basically Bare chipboard pieces (from the Fanciful Frames and Celestial Shapes sets) were covered with more Authentique paper for some Orange contrast to the black and white.  The stars could not have been any more perfect for a Halloween project, and they’ll be just as perfect when I start the Christmas crafts!  That’s why I love ‘em!

The striped paper inside the frame is embellished with some little random flourishes which were made with a Zig Painty FX pen.

The top was embellished with some great spider-y flowers, black lace, and the top of a black feathered floral stem.  I’m a big fan of shopping for crafty project materials in the floral department of my local craft store.

The last bit that was added on was a strip of adhesive gems all around the sides for some glitz and shine.  And now it’s ready to sit on my table and hold some Halloween candy!  If anyone wants to estimate how much of that candy will see the beginning of October, I’d say the safest bet is “not even the lame candy that no one usually wants.”

That’s all for me today.  I hope you are all getting into the fall (HALLOWEEN! HALLOWEEN!!  HALLOWEEEEEEEEN!!!) spirit.  Thanks so much for stopping by!

x Beth
