Keys To My Heart..
15 July 2012 | By Rebecca in UncategorizedHi everyone, Rebecca here and I am so excited today! Basically Bare has again taken a chance and produced one of my designs. This is a dream come true for me! It’s an incredible feeling to see your ideas and simple drawings transformed into beautiful embellishments. These jailer’s keys used to live in my head, where I thought they would make versatile pieces that can be used on practically anything. Paint or emboss them to make them metallic, cover them with patterned paper, use one, two, or all to get the impact you’re looking for. The best part about them is that you can get the look of clanky metal keys WITHOUT the weight and bulk. These beauties will lay flat in your heritage albums!
The moment I saw these in person I flipped out a bit, they were amazing just by themselves. But I really couldn’t resist working with them so I quickly dug in. I painted the keyring with a Black Painty FX Marker from Kuretake and while it was still wet I sprinkled on both Silver and Metallic Gold powders from WOW! Embossing Powders. This makes a cool two-tone metallic effect.
I placed the keyring with keys onto a wooden heart I had mod podged scraps of My Mind’s Eye papers onto. After adding a photo of my kids I ended up with this lovely wall hanging.
I couldn’t stop with just one project though. I had a beautiful old photo of my mother and aunt taken back in 1946. It was begging to be scrapped and I thought I would use the black chipboard jailer’s key set as-is for it. I really like this look!
Now that you have seen them in action, do you have ideas for these new Basically Bare jailer’s keys? I’d love to hear how you would use them!

Great job on designing these! I love that they can be dressed up as well as blacked out and be used so fabulously. I’m sure there are many more ways to use them too. You did a great job.
