I LOVE cupcakes. However, it’s been awhile since I’ve actually made any. The Stack-a-Bellies Cupcakes solved that problem. I was able to re-create cupcakes I made for a past Valentine’s Day. In fact, I even used the same supplies to make the cupcake embellishments for my layout.
I took a new cupcake liner I used for the cupcakes and cut it up, adhering it to the bottom half of the cupcake with Mod Podge. (Tip: Cut the cupcake liner in half, put Mod Podge on the chipboard, then place the liner on top. The liner will go over the edges – trim when dry.) For the frosting on the cupcakes, I used the felt tops since they looked like the cream cheese frosting I put on my real cupcakes. The cupcake sprinkles are actual sprinkles that I used on the real cupcakes – I liked the dimension they added to my embellishments. A little bit of Mod Podge helped adhere them to the felt. (Note: This was a bit messy – not recommended, but it was the only adhesive I had nearby.)
I also used a Bare Basic felt heart on my layout. With a little bit of Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist in Red Velvet, I sprayed the felt heart to blend in with the colors of the rest of the layout. A big button and a bit of ric-rack spruce up the heart.
So no baking involved with this layout, but still a delicious looking cupcake treat! Have a great weekend!
