Easter? What about Christmas

November 18th, 2011 | By admin in Birds | 1 Comment »

With all the Christmas projects I have on the go right now, I wanted to take a quick break and create something Springy!!! I know, I know, winter has just started and I’m already thinking of green grass lol.

Hi everyone, Erika Taylor here today to share with you a sweet little ATC I created for a Dixie Pieces crop challenge recently. It was a set of 4 representing each season and when I started with spring, I knew that I had to make a cute little baby chick from the Stack-a-bellies Birds pack. I stippled on the yellow paint and painted some feathers on the wings. The background is created using Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist  and a few embossing powders.

Here are a few great close ups of this little chick and how amazing Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist works with them.

Look at the sparkle on this next one. YUMMO!!!!!

So there ya have it. A little Springtime ATC using some great products from Basically Bare.

Thanks so much for stopping by today. I hope you are all having a terrific Friday. Until next time.

Sarah Takes Us To Tinsel Town

November 17th, 2011 | By Beth in Banners, Birds, Cards | 1 Comment »

Another card from me today, and one even more Christmassy that the last, I’m getting into the Christmas spirit even more now with all of the projects I’m making!

Supply List – Felt Bird Stackabellies and Canvas Banner – Basically Bare, Rubber Stamp – LOTV, Papers, Postcard Embellishment & Greeting – Tinseltown Craft CD by Sarah Hurley, Tea Dye Distress Ink, Icicle Stickles – Ranger, Cricut Expression with Built in Cartridge – Provocraft, Promarkers & Flexmarkers – Letraset, Black Memento Ink Pad, Card Blank, Double Sided Tape, Bleedproof paper & Adhesive Pearl from Stash

Firstly, I stamped the image using memento ink onto bleedproof paper and coloured in with my Promarkers. I then added highlights with white gel pen and stickles (leave the marker to dry completely first)

I coloured the felt bird and belly with my Promarkers to turn him into a robin (as the markers are alcohol inks you can use them on pretty much any surface including these gorgeous felt embellishments!) adding the colour also made him look cute and fluffy! I added an adhesive pearl for the eye and coloured it black with a marker.

I lightly inked the edges of the canvas banner with my tea dye ink pad, just swiping it along the edge and allowing it to highlight the fraying (you can take off the frayed parts and seal the edges with glossy accents but I like the slightly frayed look, I think it’s more vintage looking)

I Printed off the two papers, postcard embellishment and greeting from the Tinseltown CD, then matted the paper onto my card blank. I cut the mat shape from the green paper using my Cricut Expression on the inbuilt ‘American Alphabet’ cartridge, I matted this onto my card tucking the little postcard embellishment behind. I attached the canvas banner using double sided tape and then added the robin and greeting using 3D foam.

Thanks for dropping by!

A Christmas Card from Sarah Hurley

November 16th, 2011 | By Beth in Cards | 1 Comment »

Today I’m sharing a card in my current favourite colours, teal and silver with white, it was a bit of a trial run for my Christmas cards!

Supply List – Chipboard Heart & Wings – Basically Bare, Felt Frame – Basically Bare, Pearl & Snowcap Paint Dabbers, Glossy Accents – Ranger, Basics Paper – Basic Grey, Tinsel Ribbon – MME, Seam Binding – Crafty Ribbons, Glitter Star – Paper Cellar, Rub-on, Corner Rounder Punch, Double Sided Tape and Extra Strong Tape from stash.

Firstly I painted the wings with the pearl paint dabber – I dabbed it over the surface (or ‘splodged’ it as I like to call it – a bit rougher than dabbing, it creates more texture!) the white dabber I rubbed over the chipboard heart to create a smoother surface, the heart needed two coats to make it bright white.

While the pieces were drying I matted a scrap of the basics paper behind the felt frame using double sided tape. Once the heart was dry I added the rub on to the centre and the attached the tinsel ribbon to the edge using glossy accents to hold it in place (its can get quite messy to get it all in place at once and with glossy accents you won’t have any unsightly glue marks – yay!)

I then attached the frame to a card blank (I rounded the corners first) and then attached the chipboard pieces using red double sided tape the stuck on the glitter star with glossy accents and attached the seam binding bow to the bottom, I frayed the edges a little once I had done this to give it a ‘shabby chic’ look

Thanks for taking a look!

Let’s play!

Lorrie here with a sporty scrapbook page! My awesome and sporty friend Twhyla joined a kickball league this year and I just had to go to a game to catch the action. I was the only person taking pictures there, so I was like her own personal paparazzi. So what better way to showcase the pictures than with the Basically Bare Paparazzi embellishment set!

I love this embellishment set because it is so versatile. You can use it for just about any subject matter, and it doesn’t need a lot of “fancying” up! I just inked the edges with a little white ink and outlined the camera’s “flash” with a silver pen. Easy and cute!

Here in the United States Thanksgiving is just a few short weeks away! For me, and so many other Americans, you can’t talk about Thanksgiving without “talking turkey.” We love our bird, accompanied by delicious side dishes and desserts. While the day is not just about eating, it is a great feeling sitting around the dinner table with those we love the most and reflecting on just how lucky we are.

In honor of such a “delicious” holiday, I decided to make a cute card celebrating the special guest of honor himself, Mr. Turkey! I used the Bare Basics Gears for his body, and Bare Basics Small Pennants for his face and wattle. I layered in some craft feathers to add to the texture! A few googly eyes worked out perfectly, as did scrap orange cardstock that I cut a beak and legs out of. Isn’t he cute!

Pennants and A Hot Air Balloon

November 13th, 2011 | By admin in Pennants | No Comments »

Hello Basically Bare fans!  Jan here and I’m having so much fun thinking of new ideas I can make with Basically Bare.  I used a chipboard ornament and added a small pennant for the base of the balloon.  Add a little Baker’s Twine and Santa and we’re ready for lift off!  This would easily fit on a card, but I have a much larger project in mind!  LOL!  I used white canvas and sewed a canvas bag.  I aged the bag by soaking it in tea and while it was still wet, sprinkled it with cinnamon and used a paint brush to blend the cinnamon.  The crocheted lace is an antique store find.

Soar!

Jamie here with you again today with a fun fall inspired tag.  I was looking at the beautiful display of color Mother Nature has graced us with and used those colors as inspiration for today’s tag.

This tag has a lot going on and I wouldn’t want you to miss any of it.  To start, the background was inked using several colors of Distress Inks and a Crafter’s Workshop template then a stamp was added in the bottom corner.

Now on to the embellies.   I’ve used two gears from the Bare Basics Gears Set, the first being the acrylic gear. Acrylic is one of my all time fave mediums to work with.  Why?  Because there are so many different techniques that can be used!  One side of the gear has been inked with alcohol inks and then the other side was stamped with Staz-On ink.

The chipboard gear has been heat embossed with Distress embossing powder in a couple of different shades.

Next up is the key and wings.  The key is from the Basically Embellies Lovely Locket Set and the wings are from the Bare Basics Wings set.  The wings have been inked with a metallic gold ink and the key was inked with Adirondak Color Wash.

To add a bit of distressing, I pulled up a layer from the chipboard.  It just gives a bit more dimension to the gear.

It’s so easy to mix and match all of the embellishment sets together to fit any mood or crafting style.  So what are you waiting for?  Let’s get those fingers nice and inky!  Plus, if everyone  is inky, I won’t stand out so much with my orange hands. :)

Adore

One of my fave embellies to use is hearts, and I just love the Basically Embellies Chipboard Hearts.

For the background, I misted my paper with a couple different colors of ink,  layered a Jenni Bowlin playing card on top, then added a strip of ribbon.

For the acrylic heart, I simply swiped a red Staz-On ink pad around the edges.  For the chipboard heart, I added a thick layer of Ranger’s Crackle Paint.  By carefully applying the paint in only one direction, you get a fun striated texture on the heart.

Card for a new arrival

Lorrie here with a “new baby” card. I don’t have children, but I can’t help but squeal with delight over cute baby things. Little baby clothes, little baby shoes, little baby socks… you get the idea! Well, when I saw the new Basically Bare baby-themed embellies, I think I indeed gave a little squeal!

For this card, I used the acrylic baby bottle from the embellishment set. To give it definition, I inked the edge with black Staz-On ink and added the measurement markings on the side with a Slick Writer pen.

Many people ask how to attach acrylic pieces without the adhesive showing. My tip? Use tiny glue dots and hide them under things. For example, on the baby bottle, I put glue dots under the chipboard top. For the patterned piece of acrylic on the side, I used micro glue dots and hid them under wider spots in the design!

Christmas Time With Sarah H

November 7th, 2011 | By Beth in Banners, Pennants | 2 Comments »

Well, the excitement of Halloween is over so now I guess I’ll move onto Christmas, my very favourite Holiday time!

Last week I started looking back on all of the pictures from last Christmas (I really must start scrapping quicker!) and found this hilarious one of my sister and her fiancé messing about after dinner, it was so cute I had to scrap it straight away!

Supply List – Chipboad Frame, Chipboard Pennant & Felt Banner – Basically Bare, Papers, Red & White Alphabet Stickers, Rudolph & Star Stickers – Doodlebug, Teal Alphabet Stickers – Cosmo Cricket, Holly Leaves – Paper Cellar, Gems, Red Acrylic Paint

I painted a Basically Bare Chipboard Frame and Pennant with Red Acrylic Paint (2 coats so it was nice and bright!) when they were dry I matted the photo into the frame and trimmed away the excess

I used Doodlebug papers and stickers as the fun look and bright colours suited the picture perfectly. I added some foam behind the sticker to give it some dimension.

I added a Basically Bare Felt Banner and  Cosmo Cricket Alphabet stickers (the felt is kind of compressed so you can still used stickers on top of it without them losing their sticky – yay!)

The Holly leaves and glittery stars and gems added the finishing touches to make the layout really ‘pop’ – I love the mix of textures here, the chipboard, felt and paper all with some added sparkle and bright colours!

Thank you for dropping by
