Happy Halloween from Sarah Hurley!

October 31st, 2011 | By Beth in Cards | 24 Comments »

Have a look at this adorable card from Sarah Hurley!

About this card, Sarah says:

I used a Basically Bare chipboard frame, embossed with black sparkle embossing powder, I attached this to one of the felt frame pieces and attached to my card. The digi stamp and backing paper are my own designs from my Vintage and Whimsy Halloween Kits available from my website – www.sarahhurley.com

Happy Halloween!

Which Witch Sparkles? This One!

October 31st, 2011 | By Beth in Birds, Blossoms and Leaves | No Comments »

This papier mache witch’s hat was just crying out for some great Basically Bare chipboard embellies!

I covered some Basically Bare chipboard bird and flowers with stickles and adhered them to the hat once a quick coat of black paint had dried on it.

Thanks so much for looking!

The Raven Halloween Card by Doralisa

October 31st, 2011 | By Beth in Birds, Cards | 1 Comment »

I’m not usually a Halloween person, but I thought it would be fun to use one of the Basically Bare corrugated birds to make a raven for a Halloween card.

I sprayed the corrugated chipboard bird with Glimmer Mist, using a darker spray for the base. When that dried, the second coat of Glimmer Mist – a silvery color – was applied to give the bird more dimension.

The final touches on the bird were stick legs, drawn on with a black marker, and an eye created with a dot of Stickles.

The quote on the card is a passage from Edgar Allan Poe’s The Raven.

The inside of the card has a couple of clear Halloween stickers from Little Yellow Bicycle.

Be safe and have a very Happy Halloween!

Bottlecap Earrings

October 31st, 2011 | By JamieP in Altered Art | 1 Comment »

Jamie Pope back with you again today with a fun set of earrings!  By now, I think most of you know I like projects that are quick and simple (it’s the whole instant gratification thing for me :) ).  With the exception of drying time, this set of earrings can be completed in about 40 minutes.

Start by selecting a patterned paper with a small print and cut out two circles to fit inside the Basically Bare bottlecaps.  Glue down the paper and then cover with a thin layer of Ranger’s Glossy Accents.  Once the Glossy Accents is dry, it’s time to add the beads and earring hooks.

Using a piercing tool, add two holes to each bottlecap – one at the top and one at the bottom.  Add the earring hooks through the top holes.  On the bottom holes, add a jump ring and on the jump ring add three beads which have been attached to head pins.

Here’s hoping everyone has a spooktacular Halloween!

A Halloween Album

October 31st, 2011 | By Beth in Dress Forms, Mini Albums & Journals, Timeless Tabs Album | 3 Comments »

I hope you’re enjoying the Halloween projects today!  Next up I have a few pages from my Halloween album.

The cover of this Timeless Tabs album is embellished with the bricks from a Climbing Ivy set, inked and distressed a bit.  I used some Distress Stickles as the mortar between the bricks to give it a kind of mossy look.

I decided to use an actual card as a journaling card since this the page was big enough.  Since I made a boat load of  Halloween cards this year, I had lots to choose from and this one matched the page pretty well, I think

On this page I used a Basically Bare Fanciful Frame (inked and then coated with Stickles) for the title.  I made ten little sticks with monster faces on top, and each one has something I love about Halloween written on it.

Those little monsters, cut from some DCWV paper, are just too stinkin’ cute.

On the canvas page I used a spider web design as a mask and spray inked the background.  Then I threw on a Basically Bare dress form, decorated with Stickles to make a candy corn pattern.

 Thanks so much for looking!

Corn Husk Scarecrow

October 31st, 2011 | By Beth in Birds | 2 Comments »

Hello Basically Bare fans!  Jan here sharing a Fall project that’s sure to keep the crows away!  The sweet kitten is a couple months old and I allowed him to get on the table, just this once.  LOL!  I spotted the scarecrow at a thrift store and painted two bead-head pins and the chipboard, Stack-a-Bellies Bird with a coat of Black Glimmer Glam.  It sure feels like Fall here in Iowa with our high temp today reaching 49 degrees!

Spiderweb Tealight Holder

October 31st, 2011 | By JamieP in Altered Art, Pennants | 1 Comment »

I’m always looking for unique ways to use my Basically Bare items so when the idea of turning the pennants into a tealight candle holder popped in my head I had to run with it!  And the best part of this project is that it took less than 30 minutes to complete (drying time aside).  Which means you could make several of these and turn them into a spidery tablescape.

I used four of the Basically Embellies large canvas pennants and stamped them with Ranger’s Archival Ink in black.  Be sure to use a permanent ink for this project, otherwise the stamped image will bleed out in the next step.  Once the stamped image is dry, I inked all four pieces with a watered down mixture of  Distress ink reinker and Perfect Pearls.  Because the canvas pieces hold a lot of moisture from the inking, I sped up the drying time by tossing them into my dryer for a few minutes.

While the canvas pieces are drying, I made the spider.  I simply stamped the spider on white cardstock, heat embossed with black embossing powder, then cut out the embossed image.

Once the canvas pieces were dry, I used a hot glue gun to glue all four pieces together.  Lastly, I added a piece of black zipper trim and then the embossed spider.

Note: As this piece is made from canvas and thus flammable, only use with a battery operated tealight candle.

Halloween Eyes Card

October 31st, 2011 | By Beth in Cards, Paisleys | 4 Comments »

Happy Halloween, everyone!  We’re kicking off a whole day of Halloween projects, and I’m glad to get things started!

This very orange card features an acrylic Basically Bare paisley, colored with alcohol inks and stamped with a spider webbed paisley stamp using black Staz-on ink.

I love (Love!) this stamp and have been looking for an opportunity to use it on a project.

Have a great time tonight, and watch out for all those little ghosts and goblins!

The pumpkin tower of terror!

October 30th, 2011 | By Rebecca in Banners | 1 Comment »

Happy Halloween everyone! This weekend has been full of scary movies and pumpkin carving. Tonight will be trick or treat, and I had to make  a scary display for all the kids! This is my final project showing how to decorate pumpkins with Basically Bare products. If you’ve missed any of my other posts, you can check them out here:

Pumpkins and Bare Basics Buttons

Pumpkins and Bare Basics Wings

Pumpkins and Bare Basics Celestial Shapes

For  the tower of terror I used a Bare Basics banner for a hand painted “Keep Out” sign. I impaled the top pumpkin with a sword and hung the sign on it. The “bloody  entrails” are simply pumpkin guts mixed with red food coloring. Pretty cool right!

Mummy Love ATC

October 27th, 2011 | By Beth in Banners, Hearts | 2 Comments »

Good morning everyone, and Happy Halloween to you all!  I hope you all have lots of fun Halloween things to do over this upcoming weekend!

My project today is just a simple little ATC.

I had a little ink spill on my table one afternoon and the end of a canvas Bare Basics banner got inked.  I’m clumsy so these events are not unusual.  Generally I just ink it some more and use it anyway.  But this time, because I was in a Halloween mood, I decided to cut it into strips and use the non-inked bits as bandages to turn a Bare Basics chipboard heart into a mummy heart.

See, when we say these embellies are super versatile, we ain’t kidding!

Thanks for looking!
