Two Projects From Tricia!

May 27th, 2011 | By admin in Banners, Blossoms and Leaves, Cards, Page Layouts | 1 Comment »

Tricia Wilson here, with two project I created this week using some of the ultra-versatile Basically Bare {Bare Embellies}!

The first project I created (above) is a card using three different Basically Bare elements. I layered two of the flowers in felt and chipboard and anchored them both on top of the extra large felt button. They all work together perfectly and provide a great foundation for the strips of words to radiate from.

The second project is a layout of me and my two sisters. This is an old picture from the early 90′s and we are definitely rockin’ some awesome hair! lol I used the Basically Bare medium-sized felt banner to frame the photo and placed part of my title on it as well.

Hearts And Flowers

Hi everyone!  It’s my very first post here as part of the Basically Bare team and I’m super excited to be a part of this super talented group of designers and educators.

Everyone gets stuck for inspiration from time to time.  If you are like me, you find a picture that you want to scrap, unpack the perfect papers and embellishments, sit down and….nothing.  I call it scrapper’s block.  Actually I call it many things, but I wouldn’t repeat most of them here.  At times like that, there’s nothing like a good sketch to get you moving again.  This layout was based on a sketch from Sketch Inspiration.  As soon as I saw the sketch I knew that I wanted to use one of the Basically Bare corrugated hearts as the centerpiece.

I absolutely love that the corrugated pieces have a white surface one one side and the standard brown kraft surface on the other.  The white side allows the piece to be inked with a light color and have it show up bright and true without having to first cover or prime the cardboard.  A little Ranger Distress Ink, some Stickles, and away you go!

Add to that a Tim Holtz Ideaology pin and some ribbon trim from the fabric department of my local craft store, and a new wedding layout is complete.

I had the utmost pleasure to teach two classes at Papertrix in Nashville, Indiana this last weekend and spend my birthday with some amazing people including the owners Cindy and Wayne, who were the nicest hosts.

The first day we did a little meet and greet and I got a chance to meet some of the ladies that would be joining me for my classes and had such a great time getting to know quite a few of you.  Thank you for stopping by and seeing me.  Then we were off to our first class using “Krafty Keepsakes” booklet doing it up “Steampunk” style with Graphic45, The Rubber Cafe, Imaginarium Designs and May Arts.  The Basically Bare booklets and embellishments were a hit with the students!

Erika Dresses Up an Art Journal

May 17th, 2011 | By admin in Dress Forms, Mini Albums & Journals | No Comments »

I love just letting my creative muse go when it comes to Art Journaling. The freedom to really experience art in its purest sense. No walls, no limits, just freedom.

Hi everyone, Erika Taylor here today to share with you a page from my most recent Art Journal. I knew immediately that I wanted to use the Dress forms and layer them to create a shadow and the rest of this page grew from there. I first sprayed the chipboard Dress Form with a dark blue Glimmer mist. Then the felt dress form received some Glimmer love too. First in Viva Pink, then Bahama Blue. I added some lace accents to the hem, waist and neckline and finished it off with some flourish rub-ons and Glimmer Glam to really make the bottom of the dress sparkle. I love how the felt Basically Bare elements soak up mist. The colors always turn out so vibrant!!!

Now what would a blackbird be without wings right? For the wings, I used the Canvas Wings and sprayed them with Charcoal Chalkboard Glimmer Mist, adding a little Glimmer Glaze for sparkle. Then to create shape, I used Helmar Fabric Stiffener, and wrapped them around a large dowel until dry. Canvas is a true wonder when it comes to mediums and I challenge you to grab some Canvas embellishments from the store and try your artistic hand at altering them.

When the entire page was painted and altered, I added some great song lyrics from one of my favorite artists to complete it. Basically Bare embellishments can be used not only on cards, mini books and layouts, but on your most prized and personal art possessions. Art Journals come to life with a little dimension so take the leap and alter your embellishments to fit perfectly on your page.

Until next time,
Toodles!

There’s No Doubt, Nat loves Basically Bare!

May 14th, 2011 | By admin in Page Layouts, Paisleys | 15 Comments »

Post & layout by Nathalie Kalbach

Wow – I really love the new Basically Bare embellishments, especially since they are made with all the materials I love to play with: canvas, corrugated cardboard, chipboard, acrylic and felt.

The first embellishments I wanted to play with where the awesome paisleys.  I love love love paisleys… did I mention I love paisleys? LOL!

For this Layout featuring a wonderful person that has a special spot in my heart, I used Tattered Angels Paint Media with the Basically Bare {Basically Embellies} Paisley Variety Pack.

As you can see Glimmer Mist, Chalkboard, Glimmer Glam and Glaze are covering the different surfaces beautifully.

Basically Bare {Basically Embellies} enable you to create a unique and fitting highlight onto your pages and projects.

This layout is for the birds!

May 7th, 2011 | By admin in Banners, Birds, Page Layouts | 13 Comments »

Who’s basically bare? I am! I’m totally in love with these awesome new embellishments to use on my projects. I’m still jumping up and down at the fact that I get to design with all of these new goodies!

You can use them “bare”, or you can dress them up with paper, sprays, inks, the list goes on. Truly, the possibilities are endless. Today, however, I wanted to share a layout I created using Basically Bare’s banners and birds!

As you can see, I had tons of fun covering up these “bare” embellishments with awesome American Crafts paper! Look at how I covered up a bird to make my own custom embellishment:

I also love the banner because it helps your title stand out from the rest of your page. Sometimes, having that extra umph on your page helps the overall design of your project.

…and that’s all I’ve got for now. Thanks for looking, and hope to see you Basically Bare (with clothes on, of course). Heehee!

We’re Sew Lucky to Have Tricia!

May 5th, 2011 | By admin in Cards, Sew Vintage | 3 Comments »

Tricia Wilson, Basically Bare design team member, created this cute and classic card using the {Basically Embellies} Sew Vintage embellishment set.  Here’s what she had to say about it…

“The moment I saw the sewing machine shape my heart skipped a beat! I really had a tough time trying to decided how to use it because I had so many fancy plans for this sweet little shape! I finally settled on using it on this card that describes how I am feeling about life right now…Sew lucky.”
