Celebrate Cinco de Mayo with Basically Bare Chipboard

May 5th, 2013 | By Veronica in Blossoms and Leaves, Page Layouts, Pennants | 1 Comment »

Happy Cinco De Mayo!  Veronica here to share another layout with you.  I am going to a Cinco De Mayo party so I thought I would get a layout ready. I also have some pictures from when I went to Puerto Vallarta, so maybe I will use those.

I have to admit to all that I am a paper hoarder so I have been “saving” this paper for a long while LOL.

Basically_Bare_Layout_Kitsnbitscraps_Pages6

I decided to split my title between my two pages and used the small Basically Bare pennants to add “MEXICO”.

Basically_Bare_Layout_Kitsnbitscraps

I also used the Fanciful Frames Set II.  These are great to use and it really is great if you want to focus on a particular photo. Doesn’t my photo of Frida Kahlo look good?

Basically_Bare_Layout_Kitsnbitscraps_Pages3

I added lots of fuzzy fiber and some pinata embellies that I cut out of paper and layered. I thought it enhanced the flavor of ‘ole Mexico.

I decided rather than having just cardstock as my background I would dress it up with some Art Anthology and stencils and give my paper a pattern.

Notice the cute flower on the upper right hand corner.  I used Basically Bare Blossoms and Leaves, and I stacked some K&Co. flowers on top.

Art Anthology:  Sorbet – Tigers Eye

Thank you for stopping by and have a scrappy fiesta with friends!

Winter at Grandma’s House

December 31st, 2012 | By Veronica in Celestial Shapes, Fanciful Frames Set 1, Pennants, Uncategorized | 1 Comment »

Hello, its me Veronica and its my last post for 2012!  I want to wish everyone a Happy New Year and may we all have peace and scrappiness for 2013.

Today I would like to share a layout I did using BoBunny’s Powder Mountain winter collection.  I have this awesome photo taken from G’ma Elsie’s window in MN and like they say:  “A picture is worth a thousand words.”

I used the Fanciful Frames large felt frame to highlight my photo.  I also added a layer of the Art Anthology “linen” sorbet to give it that frosty look; both on the felt frame and bottom on the title and embellishments.

I just love these small pennants.  It makes a great base for your journaling, titles or subtitle.  I covered my pennants and the stars with the “powder mountain” collection by BoBunny and added linen sorbet and lovely bling.

Again, thank you for stopping by and visiting.

Happy New Year,

Veronica Johnson (kitsnbitscraps)

Supplies Used:

Basically Bare: Celestial Shapes, Fanciful Frames Set, small pennants

Art Anthology: Sorbet (linen)

Celebrate Your Inner Elf with Basically Bare and Art Anthology

December 19th, 2012 | By Katrina in Embellishment Sets, Page Layouts, Pennants | No Comments »

Katrina here for the Basically Bare and Art Anthology product swap this week!  I am loving the projects I have seen the design team do mixing the two companies products together.  I keep thinking, darn, I wish I would have thought of that!  I have a layout to share today with the Art Anthology mists and Sorbet paints.

Yes, that is me and I am pointing to Totty the Sonic Elf.  And I am very sad that he is not around this year!  I misted the cardstock background with the Waimea Bay blue color.  I am in love with this shade of blue.  It’s soft, but yet you can tell it’s a blue.  These are water-based, so you card stock may curl slightly, but the mist covered so well, I hardly used any!  I had the Frost and Rudy Pink colors of the Sorbet paint to work with.  These are dimensional and have a glitter sheen to them.

You can see the dimension the paint has where I used it on my Basically Bare pennant pieces.  I did do about three coats on each piece to cover it well and get that wavy texture.  I put thin coats on and just built them up.

I snuck a flair button that JC Penny’s has been handing out on the layout.  The blue matched the mist perfectly and tied everything together.

And then just sharing a close up of my title work.  If I would have thought of it, the mist would have worked perfectly where my white shadow is on my title cut.  This cut is from the Silhouette store and is actually a vinyl cut, but works just fine for a title.

Thanks for stopping by today.  Hope you enjoyed a little “elf” in your day!  And rumor has it, I just might be wearing this hat at work on Friday.  hee hee

Hugs,

Katrina Hunt

A December Monthly with Bella Blvd.

November 28th, 2012 | By Katrina in Banners, Birds, Dress Forms, Mini Albums & Journals, Pennants, Sew Vintage, Uncategorized | 7 Comments »

Katrina here and I am so excited for the swap with Bella Blvd. today!  At first, I thought I would definitely do a layout with all that fun goodies that we received.  BUT, then I started going thru my Basically Bare stash and decided that I would do a December Monthly.  I know most people are talking about December Dailies, but I know there is no way that I would keep up with a daily album.  (Hey, at least I know my weakness!)  So, I decided to make a fun little mini out of the Tiny Tabs album and just insert a few pictures of things here and there.

I used the Christmas Wishes collection from Bella Blvd.  I love the color combos and knew that it would make a fun little mini album.  If you want to see the pages bigger, just click on the collage pictures!

All of these pictures are in order of the book, except for the first two which are the front and back pages.  This first collage includes an acrylic button from the Buttons set, a tree from the Happy Little Trees set, and an acrylic star with some silver alcohol ink over it from the Celestial Shapes set .

These pages include a spool from the Sew Vintage set and an arrow from the Arrows set.  I ran the first acrylic page thru my Cuttlebug to emboss it and then put a thin layer of Art Anthology paint in frost over it.   I then ran the second acrylic page thru with a different embossing folder, used some Clover alcohol ink on it and then mixed in some of the Art Anthology paint over it.

This collage uses a felt tree top from the Happy Little Trees set for the snow that the cute little reindeer is standing on.  A chipboard bird and felt wing from the Birds set.  Santa is made from three of the Large Pennants.  I painted a rounded canvas pennant and a V-shaped canvas pennant in Chili Powder red (Ranger/Jenni Bowlin), leaving the points of the V so that I could paint them with black paint.  I then glued the round pennant on top of the V-shaped one and ran ribbon around to make a belt.  I cut the scallop Large Pennant and used small pieces to make “fur” on the boots were the red and black paint meet.  The acrylic page here I just left plain and decorated it front and back, but still leaving area to see thru.

In this last collage, I used the two buttons from the Buttons set to make ornaments to place on the page.  I did emboss this acrylic page, but just left it clear.  I liked the way it looked.  I loved the penguins in the paper collection from Bella Blvd. and knew I wanted to do something fun with them.  This one, I made a snow globe for him to fit in.  I used the “top” from the Up, Up and Away set as my globe.  I cut the rounded bottom part from a dress form in the Dress Form set to make the base of my globe.

Thanks for stopping by and be sure to check out all our designers postings this week for our swap with Bella Blvd.  And thank you to Bella Blvd. for the fun products to work with!

Hugs,

Katrina Hunt

Countdown to Christmas with Basically Bare and Bella Blvd!!!

November 28th, 2012 | By Audrey in Altered Art, By Product, Embellishment Sets, Pennants, Uncategorized | 5 Comments »

Hello everyone!  Audrey here with a little holiday inspiration for you!

I just love the bright, happy, festive colors of the Bella Blvd “Christmas Wishes” collection.  The whimsical designs are perfect for kid projects, so I decided to make our Countdown to Christmas calendar with the Bella products and some of my Basically bare bits, too!

I began by making 24 little envelopes.  I started with strips of paper 2.75″ x 4.75″.  Score 1/4″ on each long side, and then score on the short side at 2.25″.  Use the scored flaps on the 2.25″ side of the envelope as tabs for gluing, and trim off the excess tabs.  If desired, use a circle punch to punch a little opening at the end of the 2.25″ side to make it easier to grab the contents inside the envelope.

I used the Basically Bare Banner pieces and covered them with paper.  I sanded the edges and outlined with a black pen.  The numbers I cut with my Cricut and then added some black Stickles.  Each envelope got either a banner piece, or a sticker or cut shape from the “Christmas Wishes” collection.

I hung all the envelopes with tiny clothespins on a wire frame that I bought online.

For the last day, I just added a cut out of Santa, because we are going to be busy that day!  :)

Lastly, for my title, I cut two large strips of paper in red and glued the ends together.  I cut the ends into banner shapes, then repeated with yellow paper that was a bit smaller.  I added my title stickers, a cut out tree, and outline the letters with a black pen.

In each envelope, I put a little note with a certain activity to do, or someplace to go, or something to watch.  I have listed some of the ideas below!   You can download them in a Word document in table format by clicking HERE.

Or feel free to copy and paste them into a word document to create your own!

Make some hot chocolate.

Drive around and look at all the Christmas lights.

Write a letter to Santa Claus.

Make a Christmas Card and send it in the mail to someone special.

Buy a Christmas present for someone today.

Go visit Santa Claus.

Color a Christmas picture.

Bake some Christmas cookies.

Put on some Santa hats and take some pictures.

Make a video of yourselves singing Christmas songs.

Do a Christmas craft.

Make some paper snowflakes and hang them around the house.

Watch a Christmas movie.

Read a Christmas book.

Have a birthday party for Jesus.

Everyone wear new Christmas pajamas to bed!

Donate to a charity or food drive, or help a needy family.

Make the refrigerator into a snowman!

Play a Christmas game.

Wrap some Christmas presents.

Basically Bare Plain Jane and MyLYB “10 Things I Love About Fall”

November 12th, 2012 | By Veronica in Mini Albums & Journals, Pennants | 2 Comments »

Hi Everyone, its me again Veronica to share with you a cute album I designed using another one of my favorite albums PLAIN JANE.

The reason I chose this “Basically Bare Plain Jane – Krafty Keepsake” album is because of the envelope pages.  I thought these envelope pages would be perfect to add journaling on what you are thankful for and some extra family photos.  You could even add and a momento or two; for instance, how about the menu you served for Thanksgiving?  Or maybe even your guest list with each invitee contributing a note as to what they are thankful for this year?

On the cover I used the “Happy Little Trees” embellie.   The canvas and chipboard tree added great dimension and texture to the cover.  I spray painted my little canvas tree, and I inked the chipboard.  I used some tattered angels and a zig pen to outline the tree.

On this page I used the Basically Bare “Fanciful Frames“  chipboard embellie.  I also used “Art Anthology” gelate to paint my chipboard frame.

This is Mr. Hoot. I used the Basically Bare “Stack-a-bellies owls” set to make my 3D owl.  The owl embellies come in chipboard and felt.  I covered my chipboard and added some feet and “feathers” using a border punch.

On these pages I added some of the large “Basically Bare Pennants”.  I used all three textures for my banner.  The chipboard, canvas and also the felt.

Last but not least I used the Basically Bare “Blossoms and Leaves” set.  I actually use this set alot!  I love the different textures and depth you can achieve using this set.  In the picture above I used the canvas leaf as my element for cohesion on this album.  Those of you that know me, know that I always pick one element that I use throughout an album to get a consistent look. I spray painted each canvas leaf with Art Anthology “Fern Leaf” then I outlined the leaves with Zig Fabricolor pens.

As always it was fun making this mini and it helped me get into the mood for Fall and the upcoming Holiday season.

Hope you enjoyed my show and tell, and happy Scrapping …

I “Love the Fall”…do you?!

November 2nd, 2012 | By Katrina in Page Layouts, Pennants, Uncategorized | 1 Comment »

Hey Katrina here again!  Do you love fall?  I am a person that cannot wait for the cooler weather and for the changing of the seasons.  And the mystery of what the colors will be around here always intrigues me.  We never know how they will be depending on what kind of weather we had in the summer.

The beginning of the leaves falling also means cleaning up said leaves.  I took the opportunity  to snap a few pics as this was happening this year, because I knew it would make a great layout.  I used my October Gossamer Blue kit, because the colors were perfect for my layout.

I started with the houses from the Happy Little Houses set.  Love that you can mix and match the doors in the set.  I started with the cardboard house and peeled off the top layer of cardboard from the main part of the house, leaving the roof alone.  I mixed some modeling paste with some Mr. Huey’s mist to color it brown and placed it over the ribs of the cardboard.  I mixed up the orange and brown colors on the roof the same way and just dabbed at them with a soft brush to give some texture.  This was my first time playing with the paste and I was a little unsure of what to do exactly.  BUT, I will be using it more!

The other house I covered with a few different pattern papers.  The door knob is actually a knotted piece of Lawn Fawn hemp twine and just glued on with some Fabri Tac, but I love the knobby look of it.

I used one of the Large Pennants in canvas to accent the top corner of my page.  I punch a couple of holes to string some twine thru.  I adhered the triangle “you are here” tag to the top of the pennant and then attached to my page as a final embellishment.

I hope I have given you the bug to get out there and scrap those fall photos.  And to incorporate some Basically Bare goodies into those layouts!  Have a wonderful day.

Hugs,

Katrina Hunt

Season’s Greetings Tag

October 25th, 2012 | By admin in Cards, Pennants | 3 Comments »

It’s only 9 weeks until Christmas!  Can you believe it?  I had a moment of panic at that news!  Jen here to share a fun Christmas tag that I made with some of Basically Bare pieces.

I wanted to make a fun seasonal tag to put on a package for a special person!  I took a x-large kraft tag and started with one of the felt frames from the Fanciful Frames set.  I glued paper behind it and trimmed the paper to fit.

The star topper is from the Celestial Shapes set covered in paper.  The tree is made up of Small Pennants with the top being a chipboard shape covered in more patterned paper. The middle is a canvas pieces stamped and the bottom is a felt pennant that is stamped.

The base of the tree or trunk is from the Happy Little Houses Set.  I peeled the top layer of the cardboard window and  used it for the wooden trunk.

I love Basically Bare products because they are so versatile!  I want to thank all of you for your sweet comments.  This is my last post as a design team member!  I wish the new team good luck and have been honored to be on this team!

Trick or Treat x 3

October 23rd, 2012 | By Katrina in Page Layouts, Pennants, Uncategorized | 2 Comments »

Katrina here again and I actually DO have a Halloween themed post!  I LOVE Halloween, but for some reason I don’t craft for it a lot.  My roomie took these pictures of me with the dogs last year.  I had actually forgotten about them, but when I started going thru my files found them and decided to scrap them.  No, we didn’t take the dogs around the block or anything like that!  But, it’s fun to dress them up and since a couple of them are pet therapy dogs, costumes can come in handy sometimes.  I used the new Pebbles Halloween collection, Tricks and Treats.

I knew the Celestial set had some perfect pieces for this, so I dug out a few stars and a moon.  I had thought about the clouds, but since I was planning on using some glitter, decided against them!  The moon was painted with some gold metallic paint and then I sprinkled glitter on it while the paint was wet.  The star started out with some Martha Stewart glitter paint, but I didn’t really like the sheer color, so I used a rust colored glitter over the glitter paint.  I added some faux stitching to the “costume ideas” tag with my Zig Millennium pen.

I then started on the other three star.  The acrylic one I smeared with some Rock Candy Distress Stickles, just for the sparkle.  The other two I did the same as the moon, except one of the stars I gave a white paint base too.  I love the fact that the glitter doesn’t seem to be getting all over everything, since I applied it while the paint was still wet.

I was trying to come up with a title and when I placed my Small Pennant pieces below my picture it finally hit me!  I just covered the pennants with pattern paper from the collection, trimmed, and sanded.  And those holes I punched with just a regular hole punch.  I then pulled out my Twinery twine in Lilac and made some bows.  I did glue my pennant pieces down, so they aren’t just hanging loose.  Pennants are a perfect place to place your title, or part of a title, to make it stand out.

Thanks for stopping by today!!  BOO to you!
