Love Is In The Air with Basically Bare!

January 6th, 2013 | By Becky Garrison in Funky Findings Album, Hearts, Jailer Keys | 2 Comments »

Hi Folks!  Becky here today with a beautiful project using another amazing Basically Bare mini album and a few embellishments.  Of course, now that the Christmas holidays are over, everyone is looking forward to the next fun holiday … Valentines!  And my album, made with Authentique’s ‘Lovely’ Collection truly celebrates the season of LOVE!  Check it out …

Isn’t it ‘Lovely’???  I used the ‘Funky Findings’ album from Basically Bare, and it was perfect for this project becasue of all the texture, envelopes and ‘nooks and crannies’ for decorating.  I used a ‘Jailers Key’ coated with red glitter for a bit of bright color to contrast with the softer colors.  Here are more pictures …

Under the cute image on the top left page, I cut a sheet of card stock twice the size of the image and scored and folded it down the center.  I then adhered the image to the outside of the ‘card’, and added some ribbon to tie it close.  Inside there is room for two images or some journaling.  For the page on the right, which is a corrugated cardboard sheet, I took a craft knife and lightly scored the area I wanted to remove the outer cover from, then misted it with water, let it wait for just a minute or two, then easily pulled off the outer sheet of kraft paper.

The small image on the bottom left is another ‘flip’ mat, with room for two photos inside.  Fot the right hand page I used one of the canvas Hearts from Basically Bare, inked it a bit, added a Tim Holtz ‘Trinket Pin’ on the top for a cute aged look.

Another ‘Jailers Key’ left in it’s natural black chipboard state with a red bow and a tiny sticker continues the ‘key to my heart theme, and looks really great with the pretty ribbon and lace embelishments.  For the right hand page I simply trimmed the paper using the printed heart on the bottom for a journaling spot.   At the top is another image with a flip mat for room for two more photos.  This is the acrylic page with a tab, so I punched two 1/4″ holes about 3/4″ apart on the tab, and threaded two pieces of red ribbon through, tying a bow on either side.

For the reverse side of the acrylic page, I simply added a cute vintage image and a couple of stickers.  The page on the right has an inked paper doily with a sticker, and a small pocket holding smaller images matted onto cream card stock with places for photos or journaling.  To make the pocket, simply cut a strip of patterned paper the depth you want it and trim one edge with a decorative border punch, then ink all the edges.  Next you mist the paper with water, scrunch and shape the strip of card stock, and let it dry, folded and scrunched so it will keep it’s shape.  When it is dry (or you have dried it with a heat tool) you just glue three edges to the base page and add your little cards.

Lace and trims embellish the left hand page, topped off with a Tim Holtz charm.  The journaling spot is stamped with an Anna Griffin stamp.  The right hand page is two small envelope pockets, and are simply embellished with another, folded and inked, paper doily and stickers from the Authentique collection.

More small embellishments, another journaling spot from a stamp, and a precious vintage image covering a flip frame for two photos make up these two pages.

A photo mat and some stickers from the collection on the left, embellished with some Maya Road trim and velvet ribbon to accentuate the tab.  And a gorgeous Victorian image and sticker, also from the Authentique collection for the inside back cover.

And the back cover, with the binding filled with beautiful trims and laces make up this very sweet mini album.  Here is a list of the supplies …

Nuggets Of Wisdom Album Part 2

March 11th, 2012 | By JamieP in Birds, Blossoms and Leaves, Dress Forms, Funky Findings Album, Hearts, Mini Albums & Journals, Sew Vintage | 5 Comments »

Jamie here with you again for the second half of a fun project using the Funky Findings Album.

I’ve used another chipboard piece from the Sew Vintage set and heat embossed it with several colors of powder to give it an antiqued look.

Next, I’ve painted several hearts and then layered then together.

Next, I’ve used several pieces from the Up, Up, and Away Set, all of which were heat embossed with WOW powders.  Did you know you could heat emboss on canvas?  You absolutely can.  The same as with embossing on felt, you just have to be very careful not to burn the fabric.

The last page was created by using a Crafter’s Workshop template, applying Perfect Medium over the template, then applying Perfect Pearls.  This page such a wonderful shine and shimmer!  I’ve used felt, chipboard, and canvas pennants on the right edge of the page.  The chipboard piece has been colored with Tattered Angels Glimmer Glam.  The canvas pieces have been heat embossed and the felt pieces have been covered with clear glitter.

I hope you’ve enjoyed this album, along with all the other projects I’ve shared over the past several months.  It’s with a very heavy heart that I must say goodbye and that this will be my last Design Team post.

Nuggets Of Wisdom Album Part 1

Jamie here with you once again and today I’m showing off the Funky Findings Album. When I sat down to work on this album, I was in a fun, lighthearted mood.  That being said, this album clearly shows off the mood I was in.

I used the acrylic page as the front album cover.  It was colored entirely with alcohol inks and then, using a Crafter’s Workshop template, I added highlights to the page with Liquitex Glass Bead Gel Medium and StazOn Ink.

I highlighted the next page with lots of clear embellishments.  The gear was inked with two colors of alcohol inks.

On the next page, I used WOW embossing powder around the edges of a dress form and on the stand.

Did you know you could heat emboss on felt?  Yes, you can!! Just be very careful not to burn the felt, because it will scorch very quickly.  Both of the felt flowers were heat embossed.  The smallest chipboard flower was spritzed with Tattered Angels spray and the little bird was colored with alcohol ink.

On the next two pages, I’ve used the Sew Vintage chipboard embellishments.  Te spool as colored with Tattered Angels mist then wrapped with cording from Canvas Corp.

The scissors have been heat embossed with WOW embossing powders.

Join my again tomorrow for the second half of this fun, witty album!

My Graphic (45) Funky Findings Album

November 1st, 2011 | By Beth in Funky Findings Album, Mini Albums & Journals | 3 Comments »

I love these Funky Findings albums.  There are so many different types of surfaces to work with – chipboard, corrugated cardboard, acrylic, canvas…even envelopes for trinkets and keepsakes.

I used the Graphic 45 Communique collection of papers for this album.

There are so many ways  you can finish these pages, from inking to painting to covering with paper (like I did here).  On a few pages I covered the pages completely and then cut away the holes for the ring binder with an x-acto knife.  That made for pretty meticulous work, so here’s an idea for a quick way to finish paper-covered pages without all that fuss:

Stickles!  Just cover the page up to the binding holes, then add some Stickles in a coordinating color.

I’ve inked and stamped on canvas in prior projects, and I wanted to go completely different with the canvas page this time, so I cut strips and then removed all of the horizontal strands leaving long bits that I knotted into tassels.

The acrylic page was so much fun to work with!  I embossed it by running it through the cuttlebug then inked it to look somewhat like weathered metal.

Thanks so much for looking!  Get ahold of one of these fabulous albums and see what it inspires you to do!

Suzy Rocks Our Alterable Albums!

April 30th, 2011 | By admin in Funky Findings Album, Mini Albums & Journals, Timeless Tabs Album | 2 Comments »

Hi everyone! My name is Suzy West and I’m excited to be one of the Endorsed Educators for this wonderful new company, Basicallly Bare.

A little bit about me: I’ve been scrapping for about 20 years and have been travel teaching, publishing books, doing tv work, designing products and projects for different manufactures for the last 10. I’m from the San Francisco bay area and I have 3 kids, 2 dogs, 1 son-in-law, 2 grandsons, and 2 grand dogs!! I love photography, traveling, and watching reality tv!! I’m excited to show you some projects that I’ve created!!!

Project Name: Family, Bound By Love

I created this project using the new {Bare Booklets} Totally Tabbed alterable album.  It is filled with lots of fun different pages including chipboard, corrugated pages, envelopes, acrylic, and canvas pages. My favorite part? The size of the book! It’s 8×10 and it just totally pops. You are going to love this book.

I also used the {Basically Embellies} corrugated heart & chipboard bird.

Project Name: Fun In The Sun
I’m extra excited about this project!!! Here’s why…

This book was created based on my ideas and inspiration and I’ll be teaching using this album at scrapbook stores all over the country!

I had a contest to help come up with a name that represtended me and the book. We finally picked a winner, and the official name of the booklet is ‘Funky Findings’! This awesome album is filled with the same kind of goodness as the one above, but in a more tall and slender configuration. You are going to have fun creating with it.

Project Name: I Love To Craft
created by: Sarah De Guzman–Basically Bare design team member

I asked Sarah to create a project for me using the new Funky Findings book with a lot of the new Basically Bare embellishments. The {Basically Embellies} dress form and Sew Vintage scissors are chipboard, and the heart is felt. She did such a great job with it!
