Hi Veronica here to share an altered frame with you.

Home is the best place to be.  Home is where your loved ones are, home is your security, home is where your heart resides.  I decided to share this cute and colorful altered frame today.

I used Basically Bare:

Celestrial Shapes, Happy Little Houses, Happy Little Trees.  I also used Art Anthology’s fern leaf colorations.

One More Valentine’s Day Project

February 15th, 2013 | By Beth in Altered Art, Hearts | No Comments »

Good morning, everyone!  I hope you all had a great Valentine’s Day with your sweetie!  Today I have the door hanger I made to share a little love with folks that come to visit.

I used three chipboard Bare Basics Hearts and a whole lot of Art Anthology for this project.  It started with a wood frame painted white.  Then I added some heart-shaped paper doilies in the background.  I dabbed Art Anthology Sorbet Dimensional Gel Paint in “Splashed” around the sides of the frame for sparkle and a little dimension.

Each heart has a different design, but all of them started with a solid base of plain white acrylic paint and then were covered with a thin coat of Art Anthology Sorbet Dimensional Gel Paint in “Drab.”

The first heart has swirls stenciled on top of the “Drab” Sorbet using “Red Velvet” Sorbet.

The second heart has some random brush strokes in the base coat of “Drab” Sorbet for extra dimension, and then has a masked flourish that was painted around using Art Anthology “Wineberry” Velvet Dimensional paint.

The third heart has small white hearts made with Art Anthology Dimensional Crystal in “Blizzard.”

After all of the hearts were set into the background, I filled in the open spaces with various flowers from my stash.  Several of these flowers were white to start with, but were colored with Art Anthology Colorations Spray in “Sangria.”

That’s it for today!  Thanks so much for stopping by!

x Beth

Vintage key decor

December 27th, 2012 | By Natalie in Altered Art, Jailer Keys, Uncategorized | 1 Comment »

Hi friends, Natalie here

My project today is a little different for me.

I have seen all kinds of neat project on Pintrest using Vintage keys

as I looked at my Basically Bare Jailer Keys and Art Anthology Jungle Green paint

it hit me!

The texture of the AA paint is so amazing that it gave my chipboard keys a very realistic look

My background papers are from some old tattered books I got at a local ‘junk’ shop.

Don’t they look like real keys!!!

I used pop dots and a shadow box frame, and LOVE how it turned out!

sorry about the glare on the glass…

Thanks for stopping by the Basically Bare Blog today!

I hope you were inspired to create something fun for your home!

Joy wall hanging with Art Anthology

December 21st, 2012 | By Rebecca in Altered Art | No Comments »

Hi everyone, Rebecca here! My project for the Art Anthology and Basically Bare swap is an old metal frame that needed new life breathed into it.

I covered the entire frame with some flat green paint, then added Bare Basics Buttons and a Fanciful Frame II that had been coated with Satin Sheen Gold Sorbet from Art Anthology.

Just look at the sparkle and texture in the Sorbet, so beautiful! The photos do not do this stuff justice, believe me!

A little winter bird: Art Anthology and Basically Bare.

December 17th, 2012 | By Audrey in Altered Art | 1 Comment »

Hi everyone! Audrey here, and I kid you not…. the Art Anthology products are my new favorite thing! I have been using them on almost every project i create lately!

Since I have been in the winter spirit, and since I had some frost and ruby red Sorbet gel paints, I envisioned a cardinal in some white trees with snow, and this little frame was the end product.

I started with the postage stamp album and use the chipboard piece, the cardboard piece, and the acrylic piece.

On the cardboard, I spread a layer of gesso and then some Frost Sorbet with my finger. I used a birch tree stencil from The Crafter’s Workshop, and sprayed with the Colorations mists in “Focus”. I then went back over my stencil with a brown ink just on the trees.

I used a black pen to outline the trees and add some detail. The cardinal i cut from a piece of patterned paper and added some Ruby Red Sorbet.

On the acrylic piece, I added a bit of frost sorbet with a brush to give my window a frosty look.

I cut a square from the center of the chipboard piece to create a frame, painted it white, and layered it with some more Frost.

Finally, I glued the acrylic piece to the chipboard, and then popped them off the background cardboard frame. The cardinal I popped off, too, to give some dimension.

Hope you enjoyed this little winter bird!

Super Cute Ornaments with ‘Hats & Staches’ Embellies!

December 11th, 2012 | By Becky Garrison in Altered Art, Hats & Staches | 5 Comments »

Merry Christmas! Becky here today to share some really cute ornaments I made from the ‘Hats & Staches’ Basically Embellies. They would make great gifts or even gift tags for your gifts, and I can almost guarantee none of your family or friends will have any like them hanging on their tree! Here they are …

One I call the ‘Monopoly Millionaire’ and the other one is ‘Texas Pete’, and each one is made from three pieces from the Hats & Staches set.  Here is how to make them …

  • First make the face … these are made from the ‘bowler’ hats … fairly round with one straight side and a bit of ‘bill’ on either side of the straight side.  First step is to cut off the two little ‘tabs’ that form the bill.  Then trace the shape onto some patterned paper, cut to fit and adhere to the chipboard.  The straight side goes up under the hat.
  • Second cover both the hat and the mustache in coordinating patterned paper and adhere to the chipboard.   Adhere the hat to the straight side of the bowler hat, and the mustache to the lower, rounded side of the face.
  • Add ‘wiggly eyes’ which are easily available from most craft stores.
  • Decorate with glitter glue (Stickles), ink, twine or cord, and mini Christmas ornaments.  The ‘hat band’ on Mr. Millionaire is from ‘Black Magic’ Stickles and the one on Texas Pete is from Tim Holtz ‘Winter’ paper string.
  • Adhere more paper string (or twine or ribbon) to the back side for hanging.

That is it!  They are so easy to make and you know your friends are going to LOVE them!  Thanks for joining us today, and come back soon for more incredible inspiration from the Basically Bare Design Team!  Becky

I will Owl-ways love you!

December 6th, 2012 | By Natalie in Altered Art, Gears, Owls, Uncategorized | 14 Comments »

I am so excited that Basically Bare is working with Xyron this month!

As Becky said yesterday, the Glue Sticks ROCK!!

Seriously folks you gotta get one! They are so perfect for adhering chipboard to patterned paper.. So smooth and dries so quickly.

I really do love this stuff!
For my project today, I really wanted to use the owl.

I think owls are so cute so I thought I would get one all ready for the holidays.

The  Xyron glue stick made making this gift tag so easy.

I added the owl and die cut to a large gear before tying it to the gift bag,

just gives a little more dimension and interest.

I used the fabulous new papers and die cuts from Pink Paislee on this guy.

Dressy Ornament

December 1st, 2012 | By Katrina in Altered Art, Dress Forms | 3 Comments »

Whew, really Christmas is almost here and I am totally not ready.  That’s me, Katrina for you!  The project I have for you today is quite easy, quick and would look great on the tree or a package.  It’s a two-sided ornament using the Dress Form from Basically Bare.

Both sides are the same, except for the color of the flowers.  I didn’t have enough to go on both sides, so I just did two different sides.  Plus, I thought it might be fun to look at on the tree, in the different lights.  And the difference is so subtle, it doesn’t really bother me!  This would look WONDERFUL in white blooms for a winter theme also!

I started the dress form by painting the top and bottom parts with some Art Anthology paint in Frost (wintery feeling).  Then I went from the bottom up with the skirt.  I used leaf picks that I found in the wedding decor section and just layered them upward.  I also used some Shimmerz paint on them to give them a little snowy look after I had them layered and attached.

After the skirt, I worked on the bodice from top to bottom.  I just layered and moved the blooms around until I liked the placement.  Then I went back and adhered them to the form.  I ran some ribbon around the waist and covered where the ends met by adding the pearls on top.

I think I might go thru my stash of Basically Bare embellishments and make some different ones for packages!  Super fun and super quick to make during this busy holiday season.  And they will add a nice homemade touch to a store bought gift.

Hugs,

Katrina Hunt

Countdown to Christmas with Basically Bare and Bella Blvd!!!

November 28th, 2012 | By Audrey in Altered Art, By Product, Embellishment Sets, Pennants, Uncategorized | 5 Comments »

Hello everyone!  Audrey here with a little holiday inspiration for you!

I just love the bright, happy, festive colors of the Bella Blvd “Christmas Wishes” collection.  The whimsical designs are perfect for kid projects, so I decided to make our Countdown to Christmas calendar with the Bella products and some of my Basically bare bits, too!

I began by making 24 little envelopes.  I started with strips of paper 2.75″ x 4.75″.  Score 1/4″ on each long side, and then score on the short side at 2.25″.  Use the scored flaps on the 2.25″ side of the envelope as tabs for gluing, and trim off the excess tabs.  If desired, use a circle punch to punch a little opening at the end of the 2.25″ side to make it easier to grab the contents inside the envelope.

I used the Basically Bare Banner pieces and covered them with paper.  I sanded the edges and outlined with a black pen.  The numbers I cut with my Cricut and then added some black Stickles.  Each envelope got either a banner piece, or a sticker or cut shape from the “Christmas Wishes” collection.

I hung all the envelopes with tiny clothespins on a wire frame that I bought online.

For the last day, I just added a cut out of Santa, because we are going to be busy that day!  :)

Lastly, for my title, I cut two large strips of paper in red and glued the ends together.  I cut the ends into banner shapes, then repeated with yellow paper that was a bit smaller.  I added my title stickers, a cut out tree, and outline the letters with a black pen.

In each envelope, I put a little note with a certain activity to do, or someplace to go, or something to watch.  I have listed some of the ideas below!   You can download them in a Word document in table format by clicking HERE.

Or feel free to copy and paste them into a word document to create your own!

Thanks Turkey!

November 27th, 2012 | By Marilyn in Altered Art, Cupcakes, Happy Little Hosues, Uncategorized | 3 Comments »

Good morning, Marilyn here with a new creation especially for you.  When I think of Thanksgiving, I think of turkey, pies, and home.  So, with that in mind, I created the following 4×6.

I started with a piece of mechanical board (a fave of mine) and covered it with alternating strips of Bella Blvd’s Homey and Trees (backside) paper.  I then edged the top and bottom using Bella Blvd’s designer paper tape.  It gives a nice finished edge to the piece.

Then I made a pie.  I started with a Basically Bare Stack-a-Bellies cupcake with a felt top.  I trimmed up the bottom piece just a bit on the top of the sides and colored it with Espresso acrylic paint.  Then using a Snow Cap paint dabber, I pounced the paint on the white felt top.  I wanted the slightly uneven coverage this gave.  Finally, I carefully painted on two slits.   Moving the top further down on the bottom turned the cupcake into a pie!

To make my banner, I used the some of the doors from Basically Bare’s Happy Little Houses set.  I ran a Snow Cap paint dabber across the chipboard, going for a streaked appearance to imitate a painted wood board.  I then used the “THANKS” sticker from Bella Blvd’s Thankful sticker sheet.

Hope you enjoy my project for today!  Until later………………Smiles~
