Two Cards

March 7th, 2013 | By Beth in Cards, Dress Forms, Hearts | No Comments »

Good morning, guys!  Beth here with a couple of cards that I made using Basically Bare goodies.  Both used We R Memory Keepers paper and lots of Art Anthology paint and spray.  Lets dive right on in, OK?

First up is this “Timeless” card that features a Dress Me Up Dress Form.  I painted the dress form with Art Anthology Sorbet paints (Satin Sheen Gold for the dress and Trolley Grey for the post and stand), which are dimensional and glimmery.  I kind of smunched my brush around in it to give some texture.

Once the Sorbet paint was dry, I added a thin coat of Art Anthology Velvet paint in Mayan Gold over the top of the dress.  The Velvet paint has a much more matte finish, but still allowed some of the glimmer to come through from the Sorbet paint beneath.

To finish up, I added a few stripes of Stickles in the corrugated grooves of the card background for just a little more shine, and a few ribbons.

Now, on to the second card!

I used a Bare Basics Heart for this card.  It has three layers of Art Anthology goodness which combined to match the background paper color fairly closely.

I started with Art Anthology Colorations spray in Lark as a base coat.  I then added Sorbet paint in Lagoon, which is a little bit more teal than the background.  To tone down the teal, I added a final coat of Sorbet paint in Splashed once the other layers were dry.

Like the first card, this one has some Stickles in the grooves to make it shine a little more.

The black ribbon and rhinestone trim are the finishing touches on this one.

Thanks so much for stopping by and having a look!

Valentine Cards with hearts and wings

February 9th, 2013 | By Veronica in Cards, Cupcakes, Dress Forms, Hearts, Oh So Mini, Uncategorized | No Comments »

Hi, Veronica here to share some romantic sweetness.  Are you making plans with your Valentine?  Why not start by making a Valentine Card from the heart (and wings).  Plus a little cupcake sweetness thrown in.

I  am excited to share with you today two Valentine Cards and One Sweet Door Hanger to help you decorate for Valentine’s Day.

First I used the Basically Bare chipboard Hearts, and to the lovely heart I added some angel wings.

In the heart package you also get FELT hearts!

On my second Valentine’s Card I decided to use (one of my absolute favorites) small dress form.  In the dress form package you get different sizes and also cardboard and chipboard

To make my dress form beautiful and blingy I added Linen sorbet from Art Anthology

For my last project I made a Valentine’s Day door hanger.  It is pure sweetness.

For this piece I used the Rounded Oh So Mini page, the felt medium size fanciful frame, cupcake and felt wings

I had alot of fun decorating my “cupcake” I used lots of the layers, linen sorbet and bling.

Hope you enjoyed my Valentine goodies, happy scrapping …

Have a Blast!

December 13th, 2012 | By Beth in Cards, Holiday Ornaments | 1 Comment »

Good morning, guys!  I hope that you’re enjoying your Holidays!  Today I have a card that features Basically Bare’s great Holiday Ornaments shapes, used in a slightly different way.  When I was doodling a little plan for the ornaments I made for our Design Team swap with Xyron last week (I am a super nerd who sketches out their projects before they start, by the way), I noticed that the ornament shapes could be turned into little bombs…so that’s what I did!

I used some of the super cute Christmas Wishes papers from Bella Blvd and a little bit of Lime Green Stickles for shine.

 …and inside I hid a little treat!

It was super simple to put together.  Here’s how I did it:

I cut a piece of white cardstock to 8 x 10 inches, then folded it in half to make a 5 x 8 card.  Then I cut the papers for the front and inside to fit the blank card.  Then, with a circle cutter, I cut a 3.75 inch round hole in the front of the card and all of the papers that go on it.

I ran the yellow paper for the inside of the card through my printer to add the sentiment.  Then I inked the edges of all the papers and adhered them to the card.

For the little bomb, I gathered up some supplies:

First, I cut a piece of foam adhesive to fit around the bottom and sides of the Holiday Ornament shape.  Then I painted the chipboard ornament shape black and added a white shiny spot on the edge.

While this was drying I cut the flap and corners off of a small envelope.  Once the ornament was dry, I glued the envelope to the back and then added the foam adhesive over the envelope.  The whole thing was adhered at an angle to the inside of the card so that it would show through the holes in the front.

I folded a piece of cardstock to make a 2 x 2 inch envelope and attached some cotton cord to the back of it.  I folded up some money and put it inside, then slid it into the envelope that was attached to the back of the ornament shape.

That’s all there is to it!

Thanks so much for stopping by!  See you next time!

Beth x

Fall Greetings Card

November 10th, 2012 | By Rebecca in Cards | 2 Comments »

Hey everyone, Rebecca here! Fall being my favorite time of the year, I’m sharing a “cozy” card with you today. The warm colors of  fall leaves make me feel cozy, anyway!

I used   Bare Basics Small Pennants for the sentiment. A quick coating of ink was all they needed.

For the Bare Basics Happy Little House, I used some patterned papers from Farmhouse Paper Company.

For the Happy Little Tree, I pressed ink pads of various fall colors onto the canvas piece. This makes it look just like the leaves are turning colors!

Mummy Tutorial And Card

October 30th, 2012 | By Rebecca in Cards | 2 Comments »

Hi everyone! Today I am going to share a quick tutorial on making a mummy from May Arts ribbon and a Basically Bare Fanciful Frame. Ready? Here we go..

1. Gather your supplies. You need some white May Arts ribbon, a small Fanciful Frame, googly eyes, and wet adhesive of choice.

2. Place a small amount of glue on the Fanciful Frame.

3. Place the end of a strip of May Arts ribbon onto the glue. Press and hold for a minute until it’s secure.

4. Turn the Fanciful Frame over so the ribbon is on the back. Now begin wrapping it  around the frame. Make sure you cover all of the frame. Secure the end of the ribbon onto the back of the mummy with glue.

5.Glue on some googly eyes and you’re done!

I used my cute mummy friend on a card. The base was black, and I used another larger Fanciful Frame on it. Adding a little patterned paper and spooky sentiment complete a sweet  Halloween card! Happy Halloween everyone!

Season’s Greetings Tag

October 25th, 2012 | By admin in Cards, Pennants | 3 Comments »

It’s only 9 weeks until Christmas!  Can you believe it?  I had a moment of panic at that news!  Jen here to share a fun Christmas tag that I made with some of Basically Bare pieces.

I wanted to make a fun seasonal tag to put on a package for a special person!  I took a x-large kraft tag and started with one of the felt frames from the Fanciful Frames set.  I glued paper behind it and trimmed the paper to fit.

The star topper is from the Celestial Shapes set covered in paper.  The tree is made up of Small Pennants with the top being a chipboard shape covered in more patterned paper. The middle is a canvas pieces stamped and the bottom is a felt pennant that is stamped.

The base of the tree or trunk is from the Happy Little Houses Set.  I peeled the top layer of the cardboard window and  used it for the wooden trunk.

I love Basically Bare products because they are so versatile!  I want to thank all of you for your sweet comments.  This is my last post as a design team member!  I wish the new team good luck and have been honored to be on this team!

Dos Tarjetas

August 16th, 2012 | By JamieP in Cards, Dress Forms, Paisleys | 14 Comments »

Jamie here with you to show off a bit of Basically Bare and Authentique!   Today I have dos tarjetas, or two cards, to share with you.

I love the Oh So Mini Mixed Media albums, but I’m not really an album kind of gal.  So, I found another really fun way to use the album pieces – as cards.  All of the pages are 6×6, so they make for a really fun sized card to work with.

For my first card, I started with the acrylic page and used StazOn ink around the edges to create a shadowed effect.

Next, I used Glimmer Glaze on the wings and dress form.  Once the Glimmer Glaze was dry, I added the dress form, a flower, and a few sentiment stickers to the acrylic page.

For the chipboard page, I layered the Authentique paper with a bit of ribbon and punchinella.  Lastly, I inked around the edge of the paper and then used a bit of ribbon to bind the acrylic and chipboard pages together to form the card.

My second card was created in a very similar fashion.  I applied a think layer of acrylic paint to the edges of the acrylic page.  While the paint was still wet, I pressed a paper towel into it to create a really fun texture.

Next, I used three paisleys to embellish the front of the acrylic page.  The acrylic paisley was painted with Glimmer Glaze, ran through my Cuttle bug for texture, then the raised portions were inked with StazOn.  The felt paisley was spritzed with ink, and once dry, I added Enamel Accents dots around the edge. Lastly, I added a bit of Authentique paper, a few crystals, and a mirrored bird to the chipboard paisley.

For the inside of the second card, I layered several sheets of Authintique paper.

Basically Bare items used:

- Oh So Mini Mix & Match Mixed-Media Album – Ticket and Tabbed in acrylic and chipboard

-Paisleys in acrylic, felt, and chipboard

-Dress Form in corrugated

-Wings in chipboard

Tattered Angels items used:

-Glimmer Mist in Yellow Daisy

-Glimmer Glaze in Emerald Cove and Mellow Yellow

Authentique items used:

-Curiosity Collection Kit

Howdy Pardner! Three Quick Cards for Any Occasion

July 13th, 2012 | By Kristin in Cards | 3 Comments »

Hi Everyone! Kristin here with my first project using the new summer release products!

Today I’m going to be showing off some of the Hats from the Hats & ‘Staches embellie collection.

Each of the hats have their own personality, so I thought I would make cards showing them off. I used the black hats, and chose not to embellish them at all and let them stand on their own. It’s a great way to quickly add some dimension to any project.

Hats & ‘Staches

July 12th, 2012 | By Beth in Cards | 5 Comments »

As soon as I saw the line up of Basically Bare’s new Summer releases, I immediately snatched up the Hats & ‘Staches, because I had so many ideas for projects I wanted to use them for.  This set of cards is the first thing I did with them.  I just know you guys are going to enjoy playing with them as much as I did!

This jaunty little beret and ‘stache combo was coated with Stickles for some shine.

For the bowler hat and its matching ‘stache, I decided to leave the black chipboard bare, except for one little accent I made using a Zig Posterman pen in white.

This snazzy top hat and ‘stache pair are covered in paper and distressed around the edges.

And for this cowboy card, I covered the hat with paper and distressed the edges.  Then I painted the ‘stache with a coat of gesso and inked over it once the gesso dried.

You have to try these great embellies out!  They’re so much fun to work with, and can be finished just about any way you can think of.  The pack includes two of each set, one in black chipboard and one in natural brown chipboard.  That’s eight hats and eight ‘staches!

Thanks for stopping by.  Come back all month long to see all the great projects our designers have for us using the great new Summer 2012 releases!

x Beth

Guest Designer Erika Taylor-Day 3

June 30th, 2012 | By admin in Birds, Cards, Pennants | 4 Comments »

Today is the last day of Erika Taylor’s stint as a guest designer for us, and we are sad to see it end!  Erika is a fabulously talented (and super fun!) artist.  Follow her blog for lots of great stuff, you won’t be disappointed!  Now, over to Erika!

_____________________________________________

Today is my last day as a guest designer for Basically Bare and I’ll tell ya, I miss being a full time member of this team. The products are so wonderful to use, especially for a crafter like me, who loves to ink and alter.

Hello everyone, Erika Taylor here and I’m sharing with you my final project as a Basically Bare Guest designer. For this card I used the Gears #2, Pennants Large and Birds sets. I wanted to show you all how amazing the basically bare products take to paint, embossing powder and mists, so I hope this card shows that.

First off, I took a canvas pennant, and sprayed it with Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist in Coffee Shop. Once dry I stamped it with a Wow Embossing Powders stamp and finished it with Wow Embossing Powder in Olive. I love how embossing powders looks on canvas.

For the Gears,I used a combination of paint daubers, embossing powders and Distress Stain to create the texture and look. Finally the little chipboard bird with felt wings was inked, stamped, embossed and painted, using the same combination from Wow Embossing Powders (Primary Bark and Olive).

I really like the contrast of vintage and industrial on this card and I hope you do as well. Here is the finished project full of pennants, gears and a chirpy bird.

Thank you so so very much Angela and Beth for allowing me to be a part of the team this year as a Guest Designer. I’m truly honored to be a part of this amazingly talented group of artists. Until next time

Toodles
