Hey everyone, Rebecca here! I had a lot of fun combining the Xyron Create-a-Sticker with Basically Bare products! I used them to make this layout, featuring my son’s kindergarten picture.

Bella Blvd Christmas Wish List

November 30th, 2012 | By Rebecca in By Product, Embellishment Sets, Hearts, Page Layouts | 5 Comments »

Hi everyone, Rebecca here!

Today I’m sharing a layout that features my sweet daughter’s Christmas wishlist. The Bella Blvd Christmas Wishes collection has such great embellishment stickers. I loved the Dear Santa notepad sticker and I gave it to my daughter so she could write up her wishlist. This is the perfect way to preserve her list in my scrapbook.

I used a frame from the Basically Bare Fanciful Frames II set to showcase a picture of my daughter next to her wishlist.

Bare Basics Hearts seemed like the perfect choice to embellish this page as well. I covered them with Bella Blvd Christmas Wishes paper.

A Fun Boy Page & A Sketch!

November 14th, 2012 | By admin in Page Layouts | 3 Comments »

My son is all grown up now, but I still have tone of fun photos of him as a little boy.  I stumbled upon one of my fave pics of him the other day, and decided to create a cute but simple page using just a few elements.

For my simple page design, I used two of the chipboard stars from the Basically Bare Celestial embellishment set, and a chipboard arrow from the Retro Arrows set.  Two pieces of patterned paper, four BINGO-style cards, some pennant stickers, a matted photo and a title, and the page was done.  And to help you create this darling page with your own supplies, here’s a sketch to keep the creative juices flowing!

I “Love the Fall”…do you?!

November 2nd, 2012 | By Katrina in Page Layouts, Pennants, Uncategorized | 1 Comment »

Hey Katrina here again!  Do you love fall?  I am a person that cannot wait for the cooler weather and for the changing of the seasons.  And the mystery of what the colors will be around here always intrigues me.  We never know how they will be depending on what kind of weather we had in the summer.

The beginning of the leaves falling also means cleaning up said leaves.  I took the opportunity  to snap a few pics as this was happening this year, because I knew it would make a great layout.  I used my October Gossamer Blue kit, because the colors were perfect for my layout.

I started with the houses from the Happy Little Houses set.  Love that you can mix and match the doors in the set.  I started with the cardboard house and peeled off the top layer of cardboard from the main part of the house, leaving the roof alone.  I mixed some modeling paste with some Mr. Huey’s mist to color it brown and placed it over the ribs of the cardboard.  I mixed up the orange and brown colors on the roof the same way and just dabbed at them with a soft brush to give some texture.  This was my first time playing with the paste and I was a little unsure of what to do exactly.  BUT, I will be using it more!

The other house I covered with a few different pattern papers.  The door knob is actually a knotted piece of Lawn Fawn hemp twine and just glued on with some Fabri Tac, but I love the knobby look of it.

I used one of the Large Pennants in canvas to accent the top corner of my page.  I punch a couple of holes to string some twine thru.  I adhered the triangle “you are here” tag to the top of the pennant and then attached to my page as a final embellishment.

I hope I have given you the bug to get out there and scrap those fall photos.  And to incorporate some Basically Bare goodies into those layouts!  Have a wonderful day.

Hugs,

Katrina Hunt

Trick or Treat x 3

October 23rd, 2012 | By Katrina in Page Layouts, Pennants, Uncategorized | 2 Comments »

Katrina here again and I actually DO have a Halloween themed post!  I LOVE Halloween, but for some reason I don’t craft for it a lot.  My roomie took these pictures of me with the dogs last year.  I had actually forgotten about them, but when I started going thru my files found them and decided to scrap them.  No, we didn’t take the dogs around the block or anything like that!  But, it’s fun to dress them up and since a couple of them are pet therapy dogs, costumes can come in handy sometimes.  I used the new Pebbles Halloween collection, Tricks and Treats.

I knew the Celestial set had some perfect pieces for this, so I dug out a few stars and a moon.  I had thought about the clouds, but since I was planning on using some glitter, decided against them!  The moon was painted with some gold metallic paint and then I sprinkled glitter on it while the paint was wet.  The star started out with some Martha Stewart glitter paint, but I didn’t really like the sheer color, so I used a rust colored glitter over the glitter paint.  I added some faux stitching to the “costume ideas” tag with my Zig Millennium pen.

I then started on the other three star.  The acrylic one I smeared with some Rock Candy Distress Stickles, just for the sparkle.  The other two I did the same as the moon, except one of the stars I gave a white paint base too.  I love the fact that the glitter doesn’t seem to be getting all over everything, since I applied it while the paint was still wet.

I was trying to come up with a title and when I placed my Small Pennant pieces below my picture it finally hit me!  I just covered the pennants with pattern paper from the collection, trimmed, and sanded.  And those holes I punched with just a regular hole punch.  I then pulled out my Twinery twine in Lilac and made some bows.  I did glue my pennant pieces down, so they aren’t just hanging loose.  Pennants are a perfect place to place your title, or part of a title, to make it stand out.

Thanks for stopping by today!!  BOO to you!

Christmas Cheer

October 1st, 2012 | By JamieP in Hearts, Page Layouts | No Comments »

It seems like everyone I know is gearing up for Halloween.  But, I’m rebelling!  Just don’t tell the other guys and gals here, you wouldn’t want to get me in trouble would you? :)  Jamie here with you today showing a fun way to mix and match the embellishments from several different sets.

First up, I used two stars from the Celestial Set.  Both were inked in gold, then layered one on top of the other.

Next, I used one of each size of the felt hearts to create a Christmas tree.  I simply turned them upside down and slightly overlapped them at the points of the hearts.  Each was inked with two different shades of green.  For the decorations, I added a bit of May Arts twine and a few crystals.

For the tree trunk, I used a corrugated piece from the Climbing Ivy set.  I pulled the top layer off the piece and then spritzed it with Glimmer Mist. Lastly, I added a small piece of tulle.

Looking at a side view, you can see all of the dimension in this piece!  With all festive ways to use your Basically Bare embellies, are you starting to get in a festive mood?

Basically Bare items used:

-Celestial Shapes

-Hearts Set 2

-Climbing Ivy Set

Cute & Cozy

September 23rd, 2012 | By Rebecca in Page Layouts | 2 Comments »

I’m a proud kitty momma. I’ve got a two year old boy and our new little girl is 16 weeks old. They get along  just fine, and for this, I have to credit my big boy Lester. He wasn’t exactly happy with a new kitten in the house. He did have to teach her some manners when all she wanted to do was play while he wanted to be left alone. Now they play pretty happily together, and also nap with each other. I think it’s extremely CUTE!

I have so many adorable pictures of them to scrap, like the one in this layout.

I used a variety of  Basically Bare goodies on this page. First, there is a banner in the top corner, using the Bare Basics Small Pennants.

To add to the layering behind the photo, I included a Fanciful Frame.

The flowers are all Basically Bare, the Blossoms and Leaves set to be exact. These are fun to layer on top of one another.

Camera Hijacked-Layout Version

September 19th, 2012 | By Katrina in Banners, Page Layouts, Pennants, Uncategorized | 3 Comments »

Hey everyone!  Katrina here again with a layout this time.  Have you ever left your camera unattended with teenagers around?  Well, I bet you can guess that I have by my layout today.  We were at the bowling alley and I had no idea these pictures were on my memory card till I started going thru them.  BTW, this can happen with ANY camera that is laying around…iPad, phone, you name it!

I was inspired to scrap these from a layout that I have seen, but I cannot remember where.  (trust me it is bugging me!)  The designer had done a layout with random pictures that she had found on her camera that were taken by some “rogue” picture takers!  And my Basically Bare inspiration was one of my favorite sets, the Paparazzi set!  This layout is a little out of my usual style, but I loved the way it turned out.  I used one of my kit club kits (Cocoa Daisy) and then just added my Basically Bare pieces in with it.  I also faux stitched with my Zig Millennium pen around the entire layout.

I used the black chipboard pieces, because I really liked the bare look of it with everything else going on in my layout.  I tucked that film strip in underneath and angled it slightly.

That scallop border punch is one of my favorites, but it needed a little kick to it.  I just added some of the scallop banner pennants that were the perfect size to fit in the scallops with a little area left around them.  I just used some Fabri Tac adhesive to adhere my pattern paper to them, cut around the shape and then sanded the edges.  And if you are wondering, I usually use Fabri Tac on all my chipboard and canvas work here.  It does great with the Basically Bare chipboard and canvas.

And then there is that camera!  I just covered it with a strip of pattern paper and then cut out the lens center with an Xacto knife.  I backed that with a circle piece of canvas that I cut out of a canvas heart from Basically Bare.  I made a small tag on another smaller piece of canvas by stamping the “snapshot” and then just trimming around it.  I placed the tag in the center of the lens and called it done!

So get out your kits that you have sitting around and add some Basically Bare goodies to them to use them up!  Adding little bits and pieces from Basically Bare is a great way to make your kits go further!

Hugs, Katrina

Cool Kids

September 5th, 2012 | By Rebecca in Page Layouts, Uncategorized | 3 Comments »

Hey Everyone! Rebecca here, ready to share a cool idea for the Bare Basics Gears. I had a photo of my kids standing front of an old tunnel. It had quite a bit of graffiti on the walls. To pull that detail out of the photo, I splattered different colors of paint onto some of the Bare Basics Gears.

A Bare Basics Heart was the perfect thing for my title. I love the mixture of feminine shapes and colors with this photo.

What do you think of this “graffiti-esque” technique? Will you try it?

Back To School!

September 3rd, 2012 | By admin in Page Layouts | 2 Comments »

Jen Matott here with a scrapbook layout to share. It’s that time again and I’m reminiscing about my days as a student, especially since I’m on the other end as a mom and teacher now.  I had my 20th high school reunion a few weeks ago and it was a blast!  I loved talking to my classmates about things we remember happening when we were young.  Before the reunion, we had a Facebook page set up and shared photos from high school!  I dug out my box of memories and yearbooks and scanned in a bunch of photos.  I found my senior photos and can believe how long my hair was and how young I looked!  My skin was so smooth!   So, I decided to do a page with that photo…

I used one of the canvas pages from the Oh So Mini line… It’s the stamp-edged one and I used VersaMark through a new Prima stencil and added Bubblegum pink embossing powder from WOW!  It still keeps the canvas texture but embosses beautifully! I did use the ScraPerfect pouch before so that it eliminated any static in the fabric.  Works perfectly!

Here’s a close up of the texture in the canvas and embossing powder.  I love this effect!!!   So going to do this again in the future on canvas!

I also used a chipboard frame from the new Fanciful Frames II line!  I love how sturdy and adorable these are!  It fit my photo to perfection and I prettied it up with some stamping from Suzy West’s “Call Me” stamp set and WOW copper embossing powder.

You can see how I mixed other embossing powders in to create a patina look.  You can alter these frames with just about anything!

Here I am at 17 years old and boy do I wish I had that skin and hair back!  It was so fun to reminisce and look through old photos.  If you have old back to school photos, get them out and scrap a page with your memories of a younger you!

Happy Back to School for all the students, parents, and teachers out there!!

Jen
