Super Heroes

May 17th, 2013 | By Beth in Page Layouts | No Comments »

Good afternoon, y’all!  I’ve got a layout to share today that features some Basically Bare goodies and my two favorite little monsters.  They aren’t so little anymore, and are now a good four or five years older than they were on this particular Halloween, but I couldn’t resist this picture.

Full

The whole thing is made up of Recollections papers and Basically Bare Bare Basics Arrows.  And a pen and a black marker.

Pic

I outlined everything with a thick black edge to make it look like it belongs in a comic book.  The awesome arrows are covered with paper, and the little words and the journaling card were fussy-cut from more of the super hero-themed papers.

Arrows2Arrows1

Since the layout is made mostly of paper (that’s a little unusual for me; you know I love my flowers and ribbon), some of the pieces are adhered with foam tape to add a little dimension.

That’s all for me today.  Thanks so much for looking!

Celebrate Cinco de Mayo with Basically Bare Chipboard

May 5th, 2013 | By Veronica in Blossoms and Leaves, Page Layouts, Pennants | 1 Comment »

Happy Cinco De Mayo!  Veronica here to share another layout with you.  I am going to a Cinco De Mayo party so I thought I would get a layout ready. I also have some pictures from when I went to Puerto Vallarta, so maybe I will use those.

I have to admit to all that I am a paper hoarder so I have been “saving” this paper for a long while LOL.

Basically_Bare_Layout_Kitsnbitscraps_Pages6

I decided to split my title between my two pages and used the small Basically Bare pennants to add “MEXICO”.

I also used the Fanciful Frames Set II.  These are great to use and it really is great if you want to focus on a particular photo. Doesn’t my photo of Frida Kahlo look good?

Basically_Bare_Layout_Kitsnbitscraps_Pages3

I added lots of fuzzy fiber and some pinata embellies that I cut out of paper and layered. I thought it enhanced the flavor of ‘ole Mexico.

I decided rather than having just cardstock as my background I would dress it up with some Art Anthology and stencils and give my paper a pattern.

Notice the cute flower on the upper right hand corner.  I used Basically Bare Blossoms and Leaves, and I stacked some K&Co. flowers on top.

Art Anthology:  Sorbet – Tigers Eye

Thank you for stopping by and have a scrappy fiesta with friends!

One For The Ladies

So, we have ferrets.  They are a giant handful, but they are so much fun, and we just love them to pieces.  This is a set of layouts I made using their pictures.  These are now framed up and hanging in their room.   I figured it’s the least I can do since they let me use it as my craft room as well.

This is Wanda The Fearless Flying Ferret.  She is the older of the pair; nearly 2 and a half years old now.  She is the sweetest ferret in the world.

This is Arya Underfoot, our baby (she’s just turned 14 weeks old).  She’s a firecracker, but has a very sweet nature underneath.

Each one of these layouts has Basically Bare Fanciful Frames 2 chipboard embellies with a bunch of Art Anthology paint on top.  Since they were planned as framed layouts instead of album pages, I cut plenty of banner shapes from burlap, ribbon, and paper and layered them up with great soft flowers and trims.

Thanks so much for stopping for a look!  I hope you come back and see us soon!

The Moon and Stars Hey Diddle, Diddle

April 12th, 2013 | By Veronica in Celestial Shapes, Page Layouts | 1 Comment »

It’s me again, Veronica here to share a two page layout with a nursery rhyme themed for baby.

It has been a long while since I made a layout for baby, so I thought this would be cute to do.  I love using the Basically Bare “celestial shapes” and I thought the nursery rhyme “Hey Diddle, Diddle” went perfectly with the clouds, moon and stars

On both the felt clouds and the chipboard stars I used Art Anthology “linen” sorbet.  It gives not only a shine but also texture which I love.  I also added some blue glitter to the star and rim of the clouds.

Of course you can always cover the chipboard pieces with paper as I did with the moon and one of the stars :)   I just like using the chipboard because it gives dimension to the pages.

Hope you enjoyed my nursery rhyme.  Thank you for stopping by …

Happy Scrappin,

Veronica (Kitsnbits)

Crazy About You

February 27th, 2013 | By Veronica in Page Layouts, Uncategorized | No Comments »

Hi Veronica here to share with you my Valentine Layout.

I usually paint, ink, gesso, or glitter my chipboard pieces from Basically Bare.  Today I decided to cover my pieces with paper.  I wanted to add several patterns to my layout and the reason this works is because the colors of all the patterns all have the same hue in color.

I still have to journal my page, but I wanted to wanted to share one of my wedding photos.  That was 17 years ago and yes, I am still crazy about my hubby.

I wanted focus on my photo so I added some eye candy by using the clear acrylic fanciful frames and adding some alcohol ink.  Before adding the ink, I decided to run the acrylic frame through my polka dot embossing folder for more texture.

I love layering so I tucked the chipboard heart behind my title.

Thank you for stopping by and letting me share with you today

Happy Scrapping,

Veronica (kitsnbits)

Red Barn Love

January 30th, 2013 | By Katrina in Blossoms and Leaves, By Product, Celestial Shapes, Embellishment Sets, Happy Little Hosues, Page Layouts | 2 Comments »

Hey, it’s me Katrina again!  Occasionally, I love to just take a drive with no intent of winding up any place in particular.  Since I live in the Midwest, this often involves driving thru farming country.  I have always loved to see barns out in the middle of nowhere.  But since I have really started taking pictures as a “hobby” (or more!), I am itching to get out and find some good barns to photograph.  The picture on this layout came from a drive up in Central Missouri.  It was a great late afternoon/evening and I have some fun pictures from it.  BUT, this barn picture is my favorite!

For the cloud, I used a felt blossom from the Blossoms set that I had cut in half previously.  I misted with some Art Anthology mists in two different colors.  Then, I added some of the Art Anthology Sorbet paint in the Frost color to the cloud to lighten it up a little.

I am trying to incorporate more journaling into my layouts.  So, I popped some journaling on a label and added it at the bottom of my layout.  It’s just something I don’t usually do, but am trying to do more!

And then the tree from the Happy Little Trees set!  I used a stencil from Crafter’s Workshop and just misted with a couple of colors from Art Anthology.  For the trunk of the tree, I did a gesso base coat.  Then, I used some Art Anthology Sorbet paint in a brown color.  I wanted to tone down the sparkle, so after the trunk dried I inked the edges with some distress ink for shadowing.  I also used a bare chipboard star from the Celestial set to anchor part of my title.  I loved the bare look to it!

Thanks for stopping by today!  And make sure to take that camera on those impromptu road trips!  You might just love the pictures you end up with from it.

Paparazzi in the Park

January 26th, 2013 | By Beth in Page Layouts, Paparazzi | 1 Comment »

Hi, guys!  I’ve got a layout to share today that combines some of my favorite Basically Bare embellies – the Paparazzi chipboard shapes – with my new favorite mediums, Art Anthology Sorbets.

I absolutely love the texture and shimmer the Sorbet dimensional gel paints added to the super cute camera and film strip shapes from the Paparazzi set.  I jazzed them up with some baker’s twine, and a glassy effect for the camera.

To add the glass effect to the lens and viewfinder of the camera, I placed the chipboard directly on a non-stick craft mat and smoothed a bit of glass beads gel in the openings. I left it to dry overnight to be sure it was completely dry, then I popped it right off the mat.

The beads adhere to the edges of the chipboard but come cleanly off of the nonstick mat to give a transparent finish.  I am absolutely going to do this again, but this time, I plan on trying it with Art Anthology’s new Dimensional Crystals that y’all are going to LOVE.  They’re dimensional, shiny, and sparkly – how could you not love them?

Ok, back to the project at hand (I’m so easily distracted!).  I made the flag by tying three bamboo pieces together with baker’s twine.  The shape was cut using my Silhouette Cameo and a shape file from their online store.

The little Polaroid picture-looking bits were cut from American Crafts paper, as were the “twenty” and “12″ bits.

Then a little journaling with a Zig pen directly on the background paper, which is also from American Crafts.

That’s all for me today.  I hope you all have a great weekend!

‘Til next time,

- x Beth

Celebrate Your Inner Elf with Basically Bare and Art Anthology

December 19th, 2012 | By Katrina in Embellishment Sets, Page Layouts, Pennants | No Comments »

Katrina here for the Basically Bare and Art Anthology product swap this week!  I am loving the projects I have seen the design team do mixing the two companies products together.  I keep thinking, darn, I wish I would have thought of that!  I have a layout to share today with the Art Anthology mists and Sorbet paints.

Yes, that is me and I am pointing to Totty the Sonic Elf.  And I am very sad that he is not around this year!  I misted the cardstock background with the Waimea Bay blue color.  I am in love with this shade of blue.  It’s soft, but yet you can tell it’s a blue.  These are water-based, so you card stock may curl slightly, but the mist covered so well, I hardly used any!  I had the Frost and Rudy Pink colors of the Sorbet paint to work with.  These are dimensional and have a glitter sheen to them.

You can see the dimension the paint has where I used it on my Basically Bare pennant pieces.  I did do about three coats on each piece to cover it well and get that wavy texture.  I put thin coats on and just built them up.

I snuck a flair button that JC Penny’s has been handing out on the layout.  The blue matched the mist perfectly and tied everything together.

And then just sharing a close up of my title work.  If I would have thought of it, the mist would have worked perfectly where my white shadow is on my title cut.  This cut is from the Silhouette store and is actually a vinyl cut, but works just fine for a title.

Thanks for stopping by today.  Hope you enjoyed a little “elf” in your day!  And rumor has it, I just might be wearing this hat at work on Friday.  hee hee

Hugs,

Katrina Hunt

Trimming the Tree with Art Anthology

December 19th, 2012 | By Kristin in Banners, Celestial Shapes, Fanciful Frames Set 2, Page Layouts | No Comments »

Hi Everyone! Kristin here to share a holiday layout with you.

This week we teamed up with Art Anthology to create some really awesome projects. As you might have noticed over the last few months, I have a very simple and clean design style. I wanted to share with you two great ways to incorporate Art Anthology products into your clean and simply designed projects.

1. Use mists as a watercolor paint & edge your borders: On this layout I took a paint brush to the bottle of ‘patience’ mist and gently outlined the edge of my cardstock. It left a soft edge with a great pop of color

2. Paint on your Embellishments to add some Sparkle!: I used ‘Splashed’ (which dries clear)to add a bunch of glitter to my embellishments. The ornaments on the tree, the stars, the frame, and the vellum all have a great sparkle because I used the dimensional gel paint on top of them.

Art Anthology & An Anniversary

December 18th, 2012 | By Beth in Fanciful Frames Set 2, Hearts, Page Layouts | 2 Comments »

Hi, guys!  It’s day two of our week-long get together with Art Anthology, and I have to say that I absolutely LOVE working with their products!  The project I have to share today is a layout of a photo of my parents at their wedding.  This Christmas day will be their 40th anniversary.  Which means either my mom doesn’t age or she is really bad at math because she swears she’s 21.

To start with, I used a foil doily with a snowflake pattern as a stencil and applied a layer of Art Anthology Sorbet gel paint in Frost.  Then I added a thin coat of Splash Sorbet on top for extra sparkle.  This left a great dimensional background when I removed the doily.

cut apart two Fanciful Frames since my photo was larger than the frames.  I painted all of the pieces of frame with Tiger’s Eye Sorbet paint, smunching the brush around a bit to give it texture.  After they were dry I arranged them around the photo and attached it to the layout with foam tape.

Next, I cut a length of sheer ribbon and stamped a flourish design on it using Sorbet paint in Red Velvet.  The ribbon and the paint are almost the same color, so it made for a nice monotone type look.

I layered up a bunch of Prima florals with some gems and feathers along the side of the page and then nestled a little Basically Bare heart (complete with wings!) in the middle of it all.

The wings are covered with a random coating of Sorbet in Trolley Grey.  To make the heart, I painted a medium thick coat of Tiger’s Eye Sorbet on the smallest of the chipboard hearts in the set.  Before it had time to begin drying (which happens pretty fast, by the way) I pressed a pattern into the gel paint with a Cuttlebug embossing folder.

You all just have to get some of these great Sorbets!  Thanks so much visiting us on the blog today.  Please be sure to stop by the Art Anthology site and see their amazing team and all of the great things they have to share.

- Beth x
