Handmade Baby Shower Gifts

March 11th, 2013 | By Emily in Uncategorized | No Comments »

Hey All! It’s Emily Lanham here today with a quick & fun gift item for a mom-to-be!

I love adding Basically Bare embellies to my projects. I recently got a new stack of Baby Girl paper from DCWV and decided that I wanted to make a little Baby Girl gift set to have on hand just in case. You never know when you will need a quick baby shower gift!

First, I started by making a mini album out of paper bags. I love the little mini banner set. I used them behind the word “baby” on the bottom of my album. These are so simple to quickly cover with some patterned paper.

Next, I decided to create a door hanger for a nursery. This is a really sweet decor piece.

I added the hot air balloon chipboard embellie and painted it with some Art Anthology Velvet then sprayed with some Colorations mist.

Thanks for stopping by!

Us at Home: A Soft & Muted Minibook

March 10th, 2013 | By Kristin in Uncategorized | No Comments »

Hi Everyone, Kristin here today with another mini-book to share with you.

Sometimes I have a bunch of snapshots left over from other completed projects. I don’t want to get rid of them so I throw them all in a box and leave them for another time. For this mini-book, I went into that box and picked out a bunch of pictures that have to do with ‘home’ and made a home-themed mini.

I started with the Wonky Windows album. I took apart the pages from the binding so that each page would be easier to decorate. This way I was also able to put them back in whatever order suited me best.

I folded the canvas page in half and hand-stitched the edges to create a pocket for extra photos. I also hand-stitched the word love onto a BB canvas Heart before attaching it to the canvas pocket.

Here is the completed mini-book:

Here are a few close-ups, including the stitched page:

Thanks so much for stopping by to check out this fun book.

That Boy Whoo

March 1st, 2013 | By Katrina in Celestial Shapes, Embellishment Sets, Hearts, Owls, Uncategorized | No Comments »

Hi Basically Bare fans, Katrina here.  I have  another layout to share today using the Celestial Set, Heart set and the Owl set.  Actually, the owl was the starting point of my entire layout.  I love to create catchy titles and this just came together really quick after I came up with it!   I love this picture of Sheldon.  It was the first one that I posted on Facebook after we picked him up from our breeder’s house.  No one knew we were getting a puppy and they were shocked!

I played with the clouds a little more than I normally do.  I inked the edges and then used some puffy paint on them to give them some texture.  I thought the sun looked neat with the pattern paper.

I love to decorate and dress up owl forms!  My favorite part is usually the wings and the chest area, because you can do so much with them.  Here I took border punched strips of paper and layered them.

I love that the larger hears can be used to put parts of your title on!

That’s all from me today!  Thanks for stopping by!

Crazy About You

February 27th, 2013 | By Veronica in Page Layouts, Uncategorized | No Comments »

Hi Veronica here to share with you my Valentine Layout.

I usually paint, ink, gesso, or glitter my chipboard pieces from Basically Bare.  Today I decided to cover my pieces with paper.  I wanted to add several patterns to my layout and the reason this works is because the colors of all the patterns all have the same hue in color.

I still have to journal my page, but I wanted to wanted to share one of my wedding photos.  That was 17 years ago and yes, I am still crazy about my hubby.

I wanted focus on my photo so I added some eye candy by using the clear acrylic fanciful frames and adding some alcohol ink.  Before adding the ink, I decided to run the acrylic frame through my polka dot embossing folder for more texture.

I love layering so I tucked the chipboard heart behind my title.

Thank you for stopping by and letting me share with you today

Happy Scrapping,

Veronica (kitsnbits)

Whooo’s There?

February 25th, 2013 | By Rebecca in Uncategorized | No Comments »

Hi everyone! Today I want to share a cute, and shiny, wall hanging I made!

I used two scalloped pages from an Oh So Mini mix and match album and glued them together to make the shape for this piece, and then did some fun hand painting. I made a night scene, and glittered it up!

The Bare Basics owls, and stars from the Celestial Shapes set, were covered with some patterned paper from My Mind’s Eye.  They also got some shiny glitter added to them. This whole piece sparkles!

Journal the Everyday: A Little Book that Packs a lot of Punch

February 23rd, 2013 | By Kristin in Uncategorized | No Comments »

Hi everyone!! Kristin here, sharing a different type of project with you.

Today I’m working with the Tiny Tabs album to create a journal for the popular online journaling challenge 30 Days of Lists.

I love making no-photo mini books. Most people would probably call them art journals, but since I don’t play around much with the messy kinda art supplies I’m never sure if that’s the right term to use.

The Tiny Tabs album is perfect for these no-photo mini-books. Because of the massive amount of inside pages, I was able to create a single page for almost every single day of the journaling challenge.

To make up the extra pages, I added some washi tape to the top of the paper and created a hinge so that the flap could easily be lifted up and more journaling could be written underneath.

I attached the paper to the mini-book base with a small amount of adhesive so that I could pull the paper out of the book to write my journaling if the book got too bulky or awkward. I’ll glue down the pages permanently after I’ve finished each day’s list.

There are a ton of great tabbed products out there on the market right now. I added a couple of tabbed journaling cards to reinforce the tab theme throughout the book!

I love adding little details here and there. On a couple of the pages I added wood chips, washi tape, letter stickers, and more to make it fun to flip through and look at.

Thanks so much for stopping by and checking out my project. I look forward to writing up all my lists and sharing them with you. Look for updates on my blog or twitter/instagram using the hashtag #30Lists.

I blog regularly at rukristin.blogspot.com and you can learn more about the 30 Days of Lists journaling challenge here.

A Casually Covered Mini

February 21st, 2013 | By Natalie in Uncategorized | No Comments »

I LOVE making mini albums, they are so fun to make and are great gifts!
Bascially Bare has some of the best mini album styles around!
for my album today I used a “Casually Covered” mini  album and the ever cool arrows.
October Afternoon papers and embellishments adorn the pages

On the front cover, I inked the white side of the cardboard arrow in

Ranger Distress Stain in Old Paper to make it match the papers better

I think the canvas pages are my favorite, and how cool are the two small pages on the right!

another arrow inked in green….

it doesn’t photograph very well, but the right side is a clear acrylic page,

that button is on the back page showing through…cool huh!

Happy Valentine’s Day

February 13th, 2013 | By Marilyn in Uncategorized | No Comments »

Finally, Valentine’s Day has arrived!  Hearts, pinks, reds, and love is in the air.  To celebrate this year’s Valentine’s Day, I created a shadowbox.

I covered the back and bottom of my box in Valentine-themed paper and then went about making good use of all kinds of Basically Bare goodies.  To start, I used a canvas Tree, painting it with Art Anthologies Vergreen (fast becoming my favorite color).  Since I wanted the tree to be “popped out” of the background, I glued a piece of board to the very bottom of the trunk and then glued that to the bottom of the box.  This gives it the 3-D effect I wanted.  I intentionally left the sides of the box black to add to the feeling of depth.

I then painted a few blossoms from Blossoms and Leaves with white acrylic paint and used those as clouds.

Next, I took a Happy Little House, painted it with pink acrylic paint and added plastic heart sequins for windows.  The heart on the door is a silver charm I colored with Red Pepper Alcohol Ink.  A pink bead acts as a doorknob.

I took three Small Pennants, painted them with white acrylic paint, and then stamped Happy Valentines Day in Fired Brick Distress Ink.  I then glued them to a piece of burgundy ribbon that I ran around the outside of my box.

Using fishing line, I hung silver heart charms and red heart confetti from the top.  To make the confetti heavy enough to stay hanging down, I glued three together using Glossy Accents, sandwiching the fishing line in between.  I then added a piece of fencing and I had my shadowbox.

I hope you enjoyed my project.  It was great fun to make.

Until later…………
Smiles~

Valentine’s Card with felt doily

February 11th, 2013 | By Audrey in Uncategorized | 1 Comment »

Hello everyone!  I wanted to make a simple, yet pretty Valentine’s card, but I didn’t have any of the Basically Bare hearts left!!  So I made a heart, instead!

I took a canvas flower from the Blossoms & Leaves set, and cut out a heart from two of the petals.  Then I misted the heart red.

To me, Valentine’s is not complete without some doilies!!  Instead of using a pre made one, I created one from a felt blossom.  I simply took a small heart shaped hole punch, and my Crap-A-Dile and punched a pattern around the edge.

I drew a circle in the middle, and then hand stitched over it with some pink embroidery thread.
A bow of pink twine and a pretty yellow heart pin finish it off!

Hope you have a love-filled Valentine’s Day!

Valentine Cards with hearts and wings

February 9th, 2013 | By Veronica in Cards, Cupcakes, Dress Forms, Hearts, Oh So Mini, Uncategorized | No Comments »

Hi, Veronica here to share some romantic sweetness.  Are you making plans with your Valentine?  Why not start by making a Valentine Card from the heart (and wings).  Plus a little cupcake sweetness thrown in.

I  am excited to share with you today two Valentine Cards and One Sweet Door Hanger to help you decorate for Valentine’s Day.

First I used the Basically Bare chipboard Hearts, and to the lovely heart I added some angel wings.

In the heart package you also get FELT hearts!

On my second Valentine’s Card I decided to use (one of my absolute favorites) small dress form.  In the dress form package you get different sizes and also cardboard and chipboard

To make my dress form beautiful and blingy I added Linen sorbet from Art Anthology

For my last project I made a Valentine’s Day door hanger.  It is pure sweetness.

For this piece I used the Rounded Oh So Mini page, the felt medium size fanciful frame, cupcake and felt wings

I had alot of fun decorating my “cupcake” I used lots of the layers, linen sorbet and bling.

Hope you enjoyed my Valentine goodies, happy scrapping …
