Fun, Happy Cards

May 13th, 2013 | By Marilyn in Uncategorized | No Comments »

Good morning everyone!  I was playing around in my studio the other day and came up with an idea for Happy Cards.  You know, cards that you can give to make someone feel happy.  So, I grabbed some mis-sized ATC cards and my Basically Bare embellishments and got to it.

Happy Trio

The “Happy Birthday” card is created with a Basically Bare Stack-a-Bellies Cupcake on a plain white 2-1/4 x 3-1/4 card.  I painted the top with Distress Paint in Picket Fence and the bottom with Art Anthology Big Dip O’Ruby Sorbet.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

For the “Aim High” card, I used a Basically Bare Retro Arrow along with Basically Bare’s Blossoms and Leaves.  I colored the card with Distress Inks in Rusty Hinge, Wild Honey, and Mustard Seed, and then used my Blooming Meadow stamp from Hero Arts.  I left the Retro Arrow black since that was the color I wanted and painted the Blossom with Mustard Seed Distress Paint and the Leaf with Art Anthology Pesto Colorations mist.

For my third card, I knew I wanted to use a Basically Bare Mustache from the Hats and Staches set.  I inked the background with Distress Inks in Faded Jean, Weathered Wood, and Chipped Sapphire and then stamped over that with a stamp from the Stamper’s Anonymous Curious Possibilities set.  I used Art Anthology’s Kenyan Copper Sorbet to color my mustache.  Just makes me grin looking at it!

These are FUN to make and I am going to love handing them out.  Now off to make some more!

Journey and Time Cards

May 9th, 2013 | By Marilyn in Uncategorized | No Comments »

Good morning everyone.  Well, my baby boy is turning 18 and graduating all within the span of a week.  So, instead of going out and buying pre-made cards to celebrate these two momentous occasions, I decided to make them myself.  After all, I am a designer!

First, his graduation card.  I look at life as a journey, something you should enjoy, so this card reflects that.  He starts college in the fall and what a journey that will be!

Grad Card

I used Basically Bare Retro Arrows, Tim Holtz stamps, and washi tape.

Grad Card 4

I took one of the squiggly Retro Arrows, painted it with Art Anthology Black Leather Jacket Sorbet, and when that was dry, went back over it with Art Anthology Splashed Sorbet.  I LOVE sparkle!  The stamped vehicles were highlighted using a Tim Holtz Picket Fence Marker.

Grad Card 3

I then took one of the larger straight Retro Arrows and painted it with Art Anthology Jungle Green Sorbet.

For his birthday card, I found a sentiment in my stamps that really expresses what I feel when I think “my gosh, he’s going to be 18″.  Where has the time gone?

Birthday Card

For this card, I used another Tim Holtz stamp, but inked up just enough of it to fit inside my Basically Bare Film Strip from the Just Chippy Paparazzi set.  I then embossed it with kaleidoscope embossing powder for sparkle.  I stamped the clock inside the film strip while I held it in place so it would be centered.

Birthday Film Strip

I painted the Basically Bare Film Strip with Art Anthology Black Leather Jacket Sorbet and then with Splashed Sorbet.  My son is really going to get some sparkly cards.

Here is a list of supplies I used:

Basically Bare Retro Arrows
Basically Bare Just Chippy Paparazzi
Stampers Anonymous Enjoy the Journey Stamp Set
Stampers Anonymous Photograph and Clock Stamps (I’ve had these for years and not sure what set they are from)
Art Anthology Black Leather Jacket Sorbet
Art Anthology Splashed Sorbet
Art Anthology Jungle Green Sorbet
Tim Holtz Distress Ink in Black Soot
Tim Holtz Distress Marker in Picket Fence
Kaleidoscope Embossing Powder
Washi Tape

Hey everyone! It’s Emily here with a fun little banner to share with you today!

Are you looking for a quick baby shower gift or birthday gift? Why not make a banner? They are quick and easy to assemble and the Oh So Mini Mix & Match albums are perfect for banners! They are a really nice size and you can mix and match the different shapes and surfaces.

I created this banner for a friend for her baby shower. She did the baby’s room in Dinosaurs, so I thought this was a great gift. I added the baby’s name to little rosettes on the banner.

Thanks for stopping by today!

Nerd Love

April 28th, 2013 | By Beth in Uncategorized | 1 Comment »

Morning, y’all!  Today I’ve got a layout to share that features one of my favorite go-to embellishments:  Basically Bare’s  Bare Basics Hearts.

The photo on the layout is one I took of a couple of my husband’s Star Wars figures holding our wedding rings.  Why?  Because nerding, that’s why.

I used a stencil and some Art Anthology Velvet paint to add the circle pattern on the background.

I also used Art Anthology paints and sprays to decorate the Basically Bare hearts.

That’s all for me today.  Thanks so much for stopping by!  Please be sure to come back soon!

x Beth

The Gentle Barn Using Pennants

April 25th, 2013 | By Veronica in Uncategorized | No Comments »

It’s me again, Veronica and it’s my time to share.  Love these photos of my daughter – she is such a sweet child and loves all animals.  She recently visited a shelter called “The Gentle Barn.”  It was a beautiful day so I wanted to add a cute Basically Bare felt fluffy cloud from celestial shapes that I layered with cardstock.

I decided to go with the colors of her photos which is why I chose these papers (Bobunny and Scrap Within Reach).  Pretty, browns, green, blue and coral.  I also wanted to separate the larger photos with her in the frame vs. the smaller photos on the bottom so I divided my layout using Basically Bare’s pennants

I usually add the title on the tops of my pages, this time I decided to place the title on the bottom/right.  I did want some focus on the title so I framed it with the Basically Bare frames II set and I then painted it with Art Anthology’s “Tiger’s Eye” sorbet.

Here I used the Basically Bare arrows to point at the very cute sheep.

Hello everyone! Emily here with a fun card to share today! Are you all ready for Summer already? I know I am! I decided that for my post today, I wanted to break out the Summer paper and embellishments to make a fun card.

IMG_0146_pe

I created this card with Authentique Paper’s “Seasons: Summer” collection, it was perfect to pair some of the Basically Bare celestial shapes with!

IMG_0148_pe

As you can see, I used the Sun & one of the felt clouds.

I covered the sun with patterned paper, and the cloud I added some Art Anthology Sorbet in Baby Blue Eyes and Frost. I also added some Frost over the sun to give it a little shimmer.

Spring, Trees, and Crackle

April 8th, 2013 | By Marilyn in Uncategorized | 1 Comment »

Oh yes!  Spring is here.  Chirping birds, sunny days, and still slightly cool nights.  My absolutely favorite time of year.  So, to celebrate my love affair with Spring, I’ve created a couple of tags.  Green trees, birds, flowers, bright colors; all signs of Spring.

I started out with two #8 tags I cut out of a heavy duty file folder (sturdy is better).  I then used Crackle Paint, Art Anthology Mists and Sorbets, modeling paste, stencils, stamps, and ink to create my backgrounds and color my Basically Bare Happy Little Trees and Birds.

For my Bluebird Tag, I used a Basically Bare Happy Little Tree in felt and a Basically Bare Bird.  The bird was painted with Salty Ocean Distress Paint and then covered with Art Anthology Splashed Sorbet to add sparkle.  I painted the tree with Art Anthology Evergreen Sorbet.  While those were drying, I applied Antique Linen Crackle Paint to the tag and sped up the drying time with my heat tool (be careful, you will cause the paint to bubble if you get the heat tool too close).  I then sealed the crackle finish to prevent flaking.  Next, I used a word stamp with black archival ink to stamp a background and a scroll stamp with sepia archival ink to stamp around the edges.  Miscellaneous flowers and pins pulled from my stash completed the tag.

After the crackle paint dried, I misted with Art Anthology Glorious Mist to give depth to the background.  I love the way the paint cracked for me.  I covered some areas in a thicker coat than others in order to vary the crackle.

For my Sunny Flower tag, I once again used my Basically Bare Happy Little Trees on a crackle background, but I also pulled out my stencils and modeling paste and had some fun.  The bright yellow flowers (Peeled Paint and Mustard Seed Distress Paint) add the bright cheery touch I was going for.  For the grass, I used a couple different colors of Distress Stain, swiped a manila card through it, then cut it with a pair of scissors.  Instant grass!

I once again used Art Anthology Glorious Mist to give the crackle background more depth.  This time I used a Basically Bare Happy Little Tree in canvas and painted it with Art Anthology Evergreen Sorbet.  Yep, think I’ve mentioned that it’s my fave color.

These tags will be winging their way to their new owner soon.  In the meantime, I hope you love my latest creations.

Until later……….
Smiles~

An Easter Mini

March 29th, 2013 | By Audrey in Uncategorized | 14 Comments »

Hello everyone! I wanted to share a little mini with you today about an Easter even that I took my kids to last year.

I started with a Pocket album, and took it apart to cover the pages and stitch on the pages. The design on each page is fairly simple: a piece of patterned paper on one edge, a 2nd piece punched with flower shapes on the other, and a striped piece down the seam of the 2. I machine stitched around the edge of each page, too.

Then I cut a doily with my electronic die cutting machine and placed it on each page. I just added some photos and some simple flowers and stickers here and there. The journaling is on a tab in the back of the album.

For the cover, I covered it with patterned paper and then with a piece of lace. Then I splattered it with paint. I layered some stickers, fussy cut patterned papers, buttons, and twine.

Hope you have a very Happy Easter weekend!

PS: This is my last post for Basically Bare!  I have LOVED working with these products and will continue to promote them!  Thanks for having me!

Spring is in the Air

March 13th, 2013 | By Marilyn in Uncategorized | No Comments »

Yes!  It’s almost Spring!  Warmer days, sunshine, and everything turning green.  I love Spring – it’s my favorite season.  So, to celebrate the upcoming arrival of my most favorite time of year, I created two large tags.

For this tag, I used Basically Bare Small Pennants and Happy Little Trees.  I spritzed Art Anthology Heart and Focus mists onto my craft sheet and drug my tag through it.  I then rubbed Distress Stain in Mustard Seed over the bare patches and ran it through a Swirls Texture Fade.  I grabbed my Distress Ink in Broken China and swiped the high spots.

I took two Basically Bare Small Pennants and made a face and hat.  The hat is colored with Art Anthology Imperial.  I used two clear sticky back rhinestones for eyes, coloring them with Alcohol Inks.

I used a Basically Bare Happy Little Tree, painting the canvas top in Art Anthology Vergreen.  I found the bunny rabbit and eggs in my stash.  What’s Spring without bunnies?

For this tag, I used Basically Bare Small Pennants and Blossoms and Leaves.  I smushed some Distress Stain in Mustard Seed and Spiced Marmalade onto my craft sheet and then swiped my tag through it until is was covered.  I then ran it through a Rays Texture Fade.

I used Basically Bare Small Pennants to create a face and hair, coloring the “hair” in Art Anthology Viridian.  The eyes are actually brads I cut the back off of.  The quote comes from a huge books of quotes I got from auction.  At five or six inches thick, there is a quote for just about everything and it’s a wonderful resource.

The flower is Basically Bare Blossoms and Leaves.  I painted the leaves in Art Anthology Vergreen and the blossoms in Art Anthology Outrageous Orange.  What’s Spring without flowers?

I loved making these tags.  Getting inky is always so much fun!

Until Later…………………
